Looking good for the GB womens pair and double but for the men the Australian four is going to be a mighty challenge.

Massive. The Mens Pursuit and Womens Sprint ( Pendleton v Mears) in the track cycling are also going to be massive Aussie v GB contests

Sadly not, although live rowing isn't one of the greatest spectator sports from the bank I have to say.

Purchase and Hunter did look unstoppable in their heat though so fingers crossed. Four is where my heart lies though. Would love to see them come out victorious.

Got tickets for Saturday 4th, so hoping for some medals.

What are peoples travel plans? I'm driving up to one of the park and rides, but I'd be interested to hear how people have got on with the journey. Sounds like there is a lot of walking involved (which I'm not against).

We're doing park and Ride too. I read somewhere that people thought it was all very well organised and not much queuing etc.

We have a 7 am car park slot for a 9.30 am start to allow plenty of time.

same here re park and ride (south) - on Wednesday.

As you say, could be a lot of walking (not an issue for me, but the Mrs does struggle with long distances, actually any distance, but that's another story, we'll cope somehow) - have to say the helpers at Box Hill were brilliant yesterday - Mrs was clearly struggling with the uphill walk, but we'd have got there, eventually - without prompting they offered her the loan of a mobility scooter, which got her up the hill a damned sight quicker!) plus others that were very helpful. Hopefully heading for the rowing lake will be somewhat flatter!

Hunter and Purchase have been saying they have spent the last 3 months deconstructing their stroke. They were doing the initial technique wrong, so low power, more tiredness, hence their lousy results recently. New technique is correct again, a lot of hard work and they look blinding.

Grainger's boat looked in a different league to the opposition this morning.

The mens 8 did well to power through their Rep, though I think everyone knows Germany have this sewn up for Gold. Almighty scrap for silver between the Brits, Aus and Canucks it seems!

There are also park & rides from Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor Riverside (ETA Railway Stations). All P&Rs take you to the "Hub" at Windsor Racecourse from where it is a 20 minute walk.

Just back from the days event.

Perfect organisation and some close racing , poor NZ womens quad had mishap in the boat at 1500m

I did book private parking in Dorney with the Spanish Riding School , park there, walk 0.6 miles and arrive at quiet entrance at the top end of the course .

Truly no queing and 3 minutes from the main A4 near jct 7.

I went to Beijing to watch some good Uni friends who are again competing (Hodge and Reed), but sadly circumstances have meant we have not been able to make it this year.

Dorney looks wonderful, having trained and raced there a few times myself, and good to hear that is well organised and going well.

I really do hope that Kath Grainger finally gets her gold medal, and I'll be cheering like it's going out of fashion at the mens 4-... hoping that they'll be able to hear me from Cumbria!

Have fun!

perfect.

No time consuming transfers with the great unwashed and no queuing , leaving is exactly the same.

I arrived there at 07.30 this morning and drove straight in.

It will take you into the top end of the lake , good to have a look at the start area , then just wander down to the finish area.

We've got tickets for this Saturday. We'll be coming by train as we're near Mortlake station.

However, our tickets give us general admission. We don't have have seats, I had a quick look at the rowing on TV. Does anyone know where's the area for us standing punters? By the map, it looks just 'up stream' from the stands. Ominously, our tickets pack included a guide instructing us that we could enjoy the event by watching the big screens.

Can you hire/buy seats at the venue? I'm not going to stand all day long. Olympics or otherwise. I'm a lazy bd at heart.

yes

No seats to hire or buy.

Take a blanket , get there early and make claim to your space against the fence, otherwise you will be at the back of 10 deep ,

or you could just go further up the course , to the 1000 or 1250m marker and you will be fine.
