Crazy people not realising you can be British and Welsh, British and Scottish, British and English etc
British covers all the British team and so does the Queen
All parts of Britain are part of the British Team
Do they think it's just an English team so surprised theyre invited?

The answer is simple - send them home. The Olympics are about representing your flag (ie taking part) first and winning second. If they are not proud to do that and cannot show that pride then I don't want them being there in my name.

They aren't snubbing becuase its a british team, what they are doing is not singing the british national anthem either they don't want to or find they can pay there respects by shutting up and listening to the music.

Thats it, plain and simple. Do you expect a Scot who has a right not sing to sing if he/she feels that why should he/she sing the the british national anthem if verse 5 is about crushing her home country.

What about if it was Flower of Scotland you had to sing for the British National Anthem, there is a dig about England in there. Would you sing it.

What about the englishman standing on the podium. Unable to sing the British national anthem becuase hes just too lazy to learn the words.

Aslong as people have shut up and showed respect. I have no idea why this is being made such a big deal.

Would this be an inappropriate thread to say that I don't even know the words to God Save the Queen? I'd have to stand quietly too.

Verse 5 lol does anyone get to verse 5
It's the national anthem of the british team. It's not expecting the scots to sing the welsh anthem or vice versa
As someone else said do the athletes want to play for GB or not?
I'm waiting now for someone from england to say theyre dont agree with the anthem because it includes wales and scotland

Its supposed to be a sign of british unity.

Anyone want to organise a trip to a brewery?

Even so, How many english footballers can't sing the british national anthem,

End of case. It just proves.

As long as you pay respect its ok and not jumping about like a tt during the song.
British Unity doesn't exist, you should know that devolution has removed the unity as Scots have different laws than English and Welsh.
If you want British "Unity" then devolution should be removed and a brand new anthem should be created and everyone comes under a central government not using any existing parliamentary building or Prime minister or 1st Minister.
