Friends wanna see something "olympicy" this weekend....
Discussion
I've got a couple friends from Holland coming over this friday for 3 days, who said they want to go to London "for the olympic athmosphere"
Though 2 of them have never been to England so they'll want to see some touristy bits (Big Ben, travalgar etc) as well.
They haven't got tickets to anything but think you can just go and watch any of the free events and/or some "stuff in big screens in parks".
I've had a look online but there's so many different websites, mainly stating starting times etc but not really what/where information.
What would be the best thing to take them to see on friday and/or saterday. We're about an hour by train from Statford station away.
Any tips/suggestions on what to see/where to go ?
Friday's main event is the opening ceremony so the Olympic Park should have a good atmosphere around it.
Saturday's main free event is the cycling road race that starts and finishes in The Mall - plenty of free roadside viewing live (except in the Mall - tickets for that bit) which could be combined with some touristy stuff. Should be a good atmosphere with the current British Cycling successes.
I don't know what big screens are available.

In Hyde Park they have big screens showing the games, ideal for the touristy bit too.
