The Open gets under way in a couple of days, think there are a few players in the mix who could take it.

Here's a course guide

And here's the tee times for the first two rounds http://www.theopen.com/en/TeeTimes/TeeTimes.aspx

That's my weekend sorted!

I'm feeling Harrington for this. He's slowly been getting back to form and he's probably the best grinder in golf which is much needed round here!!!

Good call. This one is going to need someone mentally tough to handle it and I agree that Paddy could be the man.

Really looking forward to seeing their skills up close on Saturday. smile

5 mins walk from my house.

Dont really follow golf but going to watch tomorrow, probably spend the day in the beer tent!-Especially if its raining most of the day like today.

Lots of houses locally rented out to golfers,my brother has rented his to Gary Player.Must be a dream to live here at the moment if you are mad about golf.

I think Justin Rose could be in with a good chance.
He has matured well, and is ready to take his first major.

To reaffirm my confidence in him I have just backed him to make the cut.

It's currently raining, although not that heavy compared to the last few weeks.

Anyone that is coming to watch, I hope you have a parking space booked somewhere or you plan on getting there early. All the main roads between the South side of Blackpool Airport down to Lytham Sq have no parking cones on them, plus a lot of the side streets near the course. Side streets further away appear to be cone free.

They always provide park and ride at the opens. These are clearly signed as you near the venue. £15 to park and then on the bus to and from the course. It's always been very well organized at Lytham and St Anne's with little queuing. Last year at St George's wasn't so good but I think that was because there was mostly only one main route in which lead to long queues for the parking.

Looks like Tigers got hi mo jo working.

But Adam Scott! 7 under at the 16th, wow. I was hoping Lee Westwood would be up there but looks like he's just too steady for that pace.

The weather is picking up, Rory should get a decent crack of getting up there this afternoon.

Paul Lawrie in the clubhouse at -5. One off the lead at the moment, Adam Scott at -6.

Paul Lawrie was one of Colin Montgomerie's tips, and he should know, having won so many maj... oh, hang on.

The BBC ask the players some of the most rediculous questions!!

Think the commentary has been pretty poor so far, particularly from Alliss & Jacklin!

Alliss has been awful to listen to for some time now. I used to love him but he is a typical miserable old sod now and annoys the hell out of me.

Great online options for the coverage from BBC smile

Caught most of the Paul Lawrie post-round dissection with Hazel Irvine! How she had the nerve to drag that out when it was obvious Paul just wanted to get out of the studio sharpish!

Listening to Gary Player on 5 live yesterday he spoke a lot of sense. Was saying how technology is ruining the game with how far they hit the ball now. He was saying he can hit his drives further now aged 70 something than in his prime winning majors. Also is a big advocate of banning belly/chin/chest putters. Coping with nerves is part of the game and distinguishes the greats from the also rans. Smart guy and great player.

Let the long belly/chest/chin putterers carry on. None have ever won a major yet. Have they?

My sawn-off Ping Sedona suits me just fine. wink

He couldn't even make the cut! Back to the drawing board.
