I've tried googling to no avail but can't find out, what is the robot thing you see zipping across the field.

I'm currently watching the hammer throw at the European championships and after each throw this robot/remote control thing heads towards the hammer but the camera cuts away before we see what it does.
I'm thinking it measures something or returns the equipment but i can't find anything on it, not even a name after 20 minutes of googling, does anyone know its name or its job?

It's just a radio controlled car that returns the equipment.

It seems they started appearing at the Beijing Olympics for recovering the equipment, shame really as i had visions of it measuring and repainting lines etc frown

From memory a similar idea was used at the old St Helens Rugby ground Swansea 7 or so years back to carry on the kickers' 'Tee' then the Scots 'stole' the idea at Murrayfield wink
