Tragic.

He was, as I understand, a very up and coming batsman. His father was a great.

RIP.

He was hit by a District line tube train at Wimbledon station apparently. It's very sad.

I've read that it was that or a car crash, but there were definitely severe delays due to a person under a tube train at Wimbledon Park this morning (it's my route to work).

Very sad indeed.

So so sad. Young guy all before him. What a waste. Thoughts should be with the family. RIP.

Shocking. He looked very talented whenever I saw him play. Tragedy again for Surrey - Kersey, Hollioake and now Maynard. Very sad.

Tragic but also strange...reports are saying he was stopped in his car an hour before, then found having been hit by the tube train....

Odd, the district line starts there and the Platform is huge, you have to really try to fall under a moving train there, I've only ever been there when they are parked waiting to leave!

Not looking a pretty picture.

Stopped by police for erratic driving then made off on foot.

Allegedly he was lying motionless on the track when the train hit him and the driver didn't see him until it was too late.

Suggests that perhaps it wasn't suicide as he could have gotten himself electrocuted in an attempt to get away from the police perhaps? Either way, terrible shame with him being so young and talented.

It's an odd one, looks more like an accident than a suicide. He made off on foot from a car being 'driven erratically' which had been stopped by police.

Glamorgan fan of many years here.

Watched Tom coming up through the ranks.

He was within a couple of years of becoming a player on the world stage.

Strange but horribly sad.

It is of course very sad when any life is lost in any circumstances, and who is in any position to really know what happened here, but it does always amaze me to what extent some will go to evade arrest. Not likely that this is the appropriate place to mention it but even more sad should that turn out to be the case.
