KP quits England One Day and T20
Discussion
Surprised that he didn't wait until after the T20 World Cup later this year. It seems that the ECB contract doesn't allow for players to make themselves unavailable for ODIs and remain available for T20Is. Big hole to fill in the batting line-up.

Indeed. This is a very selfish decision, I am disappointed.
Perhaps, but KP has always made it clear that Cricket is a job to him.I don't think he likes the way the central contracts are handled, and that may have had a contributing factor. Not to mention the fact that he and the ECB don't see eye-to-eye.
Not only is he a good cricketer, he's a team personality - both these will leave a BIG hole in the side.

"For the record, were the selection criteria not in place, I would have readily played for England in the upcoming ICC World Twenty20."
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/18280196It's typical KP in how it's been done but you really can see where he's coming from....I imagine he's had enough of "old school" 50 over matches and wanted to play T20 and Tests but couldn't. Probably been brewing for a while and something has happened to prvoke this, the timing is certainly odd. Maybe he thought he'd be able to apply some leverage with the T20 coming up in September and the ECB called his bluff ?
I think it is a simple issue of being dictated to.
Its obvious KP is a players player, not an Authorities chap. Within the test team environment he knows he is valued, he feels valued and he adds to that spirit. Outside of it, he sees the ECB as dictating what he can and cant do and no Strauss type figure to put an arm round him and say come on lad, lets get after them.
Fred set the template of the cricketer for hire, to play where he wants, but got injured before he could make good on the model. KP will now do this. I suspect we have 2 more seasons of him in Tests before he says thanks, but no thanks.

He's like Botham. Same attitude. I think if he was that 'team oriented' he would have planned this a liitle more carefully as opposed to reacting to being 'dictated' to. Still it's the nature of the beast you take the rough with the smooth. Gives someone else a chance though. Taylor looks promising.....
I think KP is just being ratehr more forthright in his opinions than some fo the others...but then he can ebcause of his IPL earnings. Swann was saying alst year that 50 over game should be dropped. They have basically jammed T20 in to the schedule without dropping anything else.
Just had a look at England's itinerary this summer....it's the work of a mad man.
May - West Indies in England (3 Tests, 3 ODIs, 1 T20)
June-July - Australia in England (5 ODIs)
July-September - South Africa in England (3 Tests, 5 ODIs, 3 T20s)
September-October - ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka
Nov-Dec – England in India (4 Tests and 2 T20s)
There's literally not a gap of more than a few days between each summer series....England are playing 13 ODI's this summer! Interesting that there not playing any ODI's in India.
Do we need to rotate the bowlers? Quite possibly..........
I imagine the players are less than impressed with it. To put it midly.
