Taken up small bore shooting in the last few months with the university, haven't entered any competitions yet on account of me not being anywhere near the standard yet, and exam commitments. Just wondered if any PHers are into it as well?

Did a bit of .22 shooting when I worked in America, and kinda enjoyed it. I found it relaxing. I got up to "Sharpshooter" status, but brought the "Marksman 1st Class" certificate home and framed it, as although it was easier, it sounds more impressive.

I need to get it back up on a wall somewhere...

Nice, I'm currently with the University club having had no prior experience up till January when I joined. Can't wait till next year, will be trying hard to get into various competitions, felt it a waste of time this year as I've only just started I'm not up to standard yet.
Would love to give shotguns a go but it's just too expensive for me currently. Will hopefully be heading out to the US after my degree, possibly a road trip across many states, nothing set in stone yet, so will be looking to have a go over there!

Consider doing Camp America next year, depending on when you finish Uni.

Many places will be keen on an international with shooting experience, and may well put you through some instructor courses, which could be quite valuable to you.

That sounds like a great plan! I'm finished next August depending on exam results, but so far it's been good (not easy, but pretty confident I'm doing better than before). Would it be an advantage if I were to complete a Range Officer course next year?

I think you might finish too late. Look into it as soon as you get back to Uni in Sept / Oct.

Don't quote me as gospel on this, but I would have thought any qualifications will be good, as they will show you are competent and enthusiastic. You'll probably still have to do the American qualifications, but the Camp will fund them.

I spent three summers at this place:

Best time of my life. We went back to visit when honeymooning, and all the kids I taught to swim are now in college, and working their summers there, teaching the next generation to swim.
