I noticed a interview recently with the President of the Rugby Football League and a lot of it was about how successful it was. Now I can see a lot of money going in from SKY but does this mean it is successful? The Major clubs do seem very buoyant but we have seen Bradford in significant trouble and it has not stopped other clubs disappearing despite the SKY cash. My thoughts are that being primarily on SKY lowers the profile of the sport something The Premier League, by accident or design has managed to avoid by getting some games on FTA tv. I notice the same happened to Darts to the point I was unaware until recently that Barry Hearn had split it until it was mentioned on the Snooker World Championships. Some feat since in seems it happened in 1994!!! So go to SKY and rely totally on their money or split and see if it keeps the profile up?
