Chaps

With England staring down the barrel of a first Innings which leaves them 100 odd behind, KP batting like his never played Cricket and even the team Talisman FEC Cook failing - where now for English Test Cricket

Can Jimmy A "worlds best test bowler" turn the screw in the second innings ?

It would appear as if our batsmen have decided not to play this winter. Thats nice of them.

If I was an English bowler, given a winter of Subbie wickets to bowl myself into the ground on, do the hard work, get the wickets, keep the totals down and then watch the batsmen throw it all away. I might be a tad upset.

Hey. Good to see a proper thread for this 'series'...

Top thinking there Gargers.

Broad, Anderson and Panesar supported Bell rather well. Added a good 60 or so to that total. Good tail wagging under scoreboard pressure.

The selectors and Flower sticking by their guns after the Pakistan series have got some explaining to do. They can't use the "we didn't prepare well enough" excuse again.

I haven't seen any coverage...is the wicket really bad ? The fact four of the dismissals were LBW's to a slow left armer would point to poor technique.

Commentary says the pitch is flat, new ball stats seem to support that - ie not many wickets going down once the ball is past 20-25 overs.

However with the Lankans now 42/4 - will England have to explain anything ?

Will still have to chase 350 I expect.

I think the Lankans will add another 80 to that score tomorrow morning, leaving England 290 or so.

If its upto 250 then I would feel relatively condfident. At the moment 290 looks beyond England.

Let them away didn't we. 127/8 and a lead of 250 odd up to 214 and a target of 340.

Still, cleanly through to tea - let's hope for minimal wickets in the evening.

Chasing over 300 in the fourth dig is rarely accomplished, someone needs a ton - might as well be Strauss.

Come on boys - could be a fantastic come back. Try not to rely on Swann, Broad to hit 50's - do it at the top of the order for once....

Looked out , but with no hot spot who can tell ?

I know the 3rd umpires get stump mic , but not sure how they can give that out tbh

You can only get 3/1 to back England to make this total.....that is just ridiculously short odds. Sad to say I have used my Betfair account to take the other side....not one for betting against "my team" but those odds just seem wrong to me.

By using their eyes and ears. I could tell looking at it - so could an ump with stump mike turned up.

Well i suppose if you say it's out , then it must be out bowtie

the bloke in the white shirt didn't think it was out & he's only 22 yards away

may as well do without umpires as long as your watching biglaugh

Nelsons for 2 at Stumps.

240 left to chase.

Could be interesting. Only 4th day wicket and softer ball.

Aye. Thank god Murali has retired.....Lord knows what he'd have done to this batting line up.
