Just got back from a ski trip to France, all very nice too.

Not skied or boarded for about 6 years and owi am getting on a bit,I found my legs and knees getting a bit knackered after a few days on skis. Went back to the ski hire shop on 4th day to try some snow blades or a board for a change, and there was this thing called a snowscoot sat there, ot seen them before and not seen them on the mountain during the trip.

For those that have not seen them, it is like an articulated snowboard, with handlebars and a basic triangular frame, that you stand on feet forward, like a scooter.

All I can say is it was awesome! Just such great fun, pretty easy to sort of be able to do without too much death risk, if you are used to snow and skied or boarded a bit, but tricky to "master" I think. The articulation both helps and hinders, plus the feet forward design is a bit weird initially.

It attracted a fair bit of attention, although it transpires one particularly foxy French bird taking photos of me thought it was one of these disabled skier guys, apparently they are popular with people who've lost lower limbs!

After a day on it I am sort of hooked and pricing up one for the whole holiday next year. Just to sure if they are a bit chav or not, but I am not too fussed, I can't afford to go to klosters anyway.

Any winter sports enthusiasts out there, who see them in the rental shops, I'd recommend you try one for a day. They rent them out per half day but the rental shop say no one ever brings them back after just a morning, they keep them all day.

Great fun.
