SNOWBOARD bindings/board question

I've currently got a 3-4 year old Burton Custom with the ICS "channel" but my bindings were older Burton Cartels with the base plate changed to fit the ICS system.
I've just purchased some Burton Cartel 2012 bindings for the same board however the plate that slots into the ICS channel is male (i.e. it has a thread) and the original screw top was just that it has an internal thread that screws onto the plate in the channel.
With the new bindings I have 4 proper screws but no plates to swap, I've managed to mount the bindings using the old plates and screw heads.
My question will there be any issues/damage by doing it this way, and I've seen M5/M6 conversion kits - what do I need??
