Can anyone recommend some decent prescription glasses, or sunglasses, that would be suitable for long-distance running? I don't really get on with contact lenses, but unfortunately I am a bit blind without them, so glasses it is. And not to put too fine a point on it, I sweat a lot so the bins need to deal with that!

I'll give you a clue how much guidance I need; I saw some OK looking Oakleys on the web, price was OK, thought they wouldn't make me look like a colossal plum... and then they turned out to be a women's model.

Ta!

The best thing I can suggest is Oakley. I have several pairs, but my main sports par are flak jackets with XLJ lenses. These give a bit more coverage.

note, I dont know this retailer, I was just using them to show you the product.

With the flak jacket, you can change the lenses as you please from prescription to normal for when you want to wear contacts. They also have some coating on which allows fluid to run off more easily.

Ta. Just been to try some on, seem good and comfortable. Not cheap though with a prescription - £300 at Vision Express eek

Any more for any more?

I've got Jawbones. Not sweated them off yet.

I've also got persimmion lenses that are interchangable which are good for cycling in the dark. They would also work for running while it is inclement.

Glasses were about £250. Extra lenses £140 so not a cheap option either.

Another vote for flak jackets with XLJ lenses - mine aren't prescription, but i've run marathons in them and you forget you have them on.

Unfortunatley my left eye is so borked it is outside of what Oakley can offer as a prescription, didn't stop me getting a set of custom half jackets when I was in the states though - use them for running and cycling. Have done the cheap glasses thing for years, but the Oakleys are just better - super comfy, great lenses and cracking customer services. Either use contacts or just make do with having no depth perception.

Would advise trying a few pairs on - there will be a pair in the range that fits like a glove - on me, the jawbones didn't sit right, and the radars were about a foot off the front of my face, but the half jackets sit perfectly - contemplating another pair in another colour because I am so much of a consumer we smile
