Can't see anything on here yet but just wanted to say what a pity it is to have to go out in such a way.

Well done Lewis, thanks for the desire and commitment you showed over the years in whatever shirt you wore clap

I remember watching him as a 10 year-old at Bracknell back in around 88, he was totally fearless then. A truly awesome player who managed 71 caps despite more than his share of serious injury.......

Even being a Leicester player for most of his career, I always liked his style of play, speed and impact (usually with his iron head - Some say there was nothing in there to damage!). He played in RWC 2003, caught the risky lineout ball to the back which led to the drop coal, and was England Captain when I was lucky to see them take Australia apart in November 2010.

Well played, enjoy your retirement!

mmmm...not sue the ex Chief of the RFU would agree following their discussion 1 hour prior to a previously arranged and contracted 850 seated Dinner at the O2 Arena post the W/C.

Depends which chief you're referring to, I don't hold a lot of respect for that organisation. He probably deserved whatever snub you're referring to!

Did I mention 'snub' anywhere in the above ?. Best we leave it there I feel.

Can we leave the 'I know something but I'm not telling you' oneupmanship bks to Mumsnet please?

Shame for the old dog to go out in this way. Even us Celts can respect the way he played wink

The thing with Moody is that he spent the last decade putting his body on the line for England and his head in places where only the brave would usually stick their boot. He was absolutely fearless about the field and he *earnt* the right to say to any official in the RFU what the damn well he felt like. He was a hell of a player. Well earnt retirement.

Always gave 110%....in a sport where commitment is everything he was at the top of the tree.

It took an awfully long time for him to claim the 7 shirt after Neil Back retired.....not really sure why that was. Others may have been more talented 7's but Moody would never go missing.

Has he given specific reasons, i.e. his knee?
