Did the GNR for the first time last year in 1.53.30, was a real milestone for me as I'd been very fit in my early 20's then let it slide, so lost weight and got back in shape to do the GNR, also did several 10ks (and other similar distance) races through the year.

Stuck some extra weight on over christmas and let my fitness slip, so entered again for the earliest ballot through the daily mirror and have been successful again this year smile

Anyone else doing it?

I did have a chance to reserve a place for the next three years for £45 but decided just to chance the ballot again as there are plenty of other races I want to take part in.

Well done! There's a Yorkshire Run as well run by Nova/Bupa ... maybe you could do that - can't remember what time of year it is though ...

I do the mag for Nova that goes out to all the competitors in the three biggest runs Nova do, the NOrth, South and Manchester.

Cheers, I'll look out for it.

Going to be entering races as often as I can this year, will mainly be 10k, but some longer/shorter.

Ideally I'd like to run a marathon at some point this year too.

I'm not fast, probably never will be, but I enjoy it hugely.

Yep, I'm doing it as well.

First did the GNR in 2010 and loved it! Did 2hrs 4 mins so certainly looking to break the 2 hour barrier this time.

...oh, and won't have to carry an engagement ring for 13.1 miles and propose to the missus at the end this time ;-)

LOL, good effort.

I'm sure 2hrs is well within your capability if you've done 2hrs 4mins.

I'd like to do sub 1.45 this year.
