I'm now regularly playing snooker and am interested in getting my own cue. I would like a cue, extensions and case ideally but other than that don't have any particular requirements. Can anyone advise me on what I should be looking for, i.e. which brands are the best, what it should be made of, etc.? Ideally I wouldn't spend more than £200.

Thanks in advance!

ive had a few cuecraft cues, nothing wrong with them and good value, you should be able to get a cue, case and extension for £200

Thanks, I'll take a look at them.

A lot depends on feel. Ash cues which are favoured by the vast majority of pros, give a totally different feel to maple. However, they tend to be truer and more solid. Personally, I would try both types before you buy, also consider tip sizes. 10mm is around average, smaller will impart more spin but requires more accurate striking (you are more likely to impart unwanted side with a smaller tip).

I lost mine when i was drunk. Had it for years and didnt no what make etc it was to buy another. Spent ages trying different cues when i was at the club couldnt find one that was similar to the one id lost.

A guy from work brought me his cue in as he'd not used it for years - Bingo was pretty much the same as my old one.

Just try some out see what you like

Recently broke my cue so I am upgrading and am tempted by a Barracuda Gold Medal. It looks a good solid cue so hope to try one soon.

Craftmans cues are nice.

If your splashing out then John Parris is like the rolls royce of cues.

Thanks everyone.

I ended up going for a Riley Burwat Platinum Ash snooker cue with case and am really pleased with it. In fact, I achieved my best break yet (still feeble!) on my second session with the new cue. smile

The price was £150 inc. case and delivery from eBay.
