Apologies for Daily Soov:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2067352/Mi...

Again as it's a Daily Fail article, some of the comments are pretty stupid. Probably from people who couldn't join their Uni rugby team as they were too much of a lightweight and/or chicken to do the initiation. We all know what Rugby players are like, so I say let 'em get on with it

'Let them get on with it' sort of went out the window though when they started getting paid to play rather than doing it for nothing.

I'm not saying they have to behave like monks, but they're professionals and need to behave as such.
(ie, if your going to get hammered, don't do it in public)

Did Tindall get hammered?

One of the things I like about rugby is that it is amateurish in its outlook. Whilst the RWC is a big competition, it still is rugby union. I enjoyed the RWC, even the final - despite what many people, those in the know as well as me, predicted - so I'm not that bothered. The only place there should not be amateurs is Twickers and there, I'm afraid, we are doomed.

I think the best thing that ever happened to rugy was going pro but there are limits. Let soccer carry on being professional, with its professional players, remote from the fans. I went to one club for a match to find a current England team regular in the bar. That's what I like about rugby: the fact there are bars, drinking and decent behaviour by the fans.

So the players get a bit OTT. We might end up with security fencing but it will be to keep the forwards out of the stands.

We've not got that much to complain about: a penalty away from beating the beaten semi-finalists. On top of that, we have our players jumping in the sea.

Well Tindall claimed he 'couldn't remember' when quizzed about 'that' evening.

My point is, the Irish and Welsh lads had a few beers as well, they said so.

The difference is they did it behind closed doors and didn't make arses of themselves in public.

That is what I meant by being professional.

I was at the world cup following Ireland, and yes the Irish players had a drink and were very aproachable in the few bars i saw them. I met fans from all nations and the general thoughts were that the England lads were stiched up by the press and thier snitches.
We have to remember that these pro players are still just young men and therefor act like dicks at times. Big deal !

The England team has the highest media footprint and sales impact though, so they will always be the prime target for such things. The only other team with that profile is New Zealand and there was no way anybody was going to stitch up the All Blacks on their home turf from winning back the damn thing.

In addition to the higher media profile of the England team you have the Queen's new grandson in it as Captain. At that point he needs someone sitting down with him and telling him/ordering him that he needs to be whiter than white when in public now. No ifs, no buts. As every inductee into the Royal Family over the last 1200 yrs has found out...you dont get a choice in it. Handling the media and your PR is your first job.

But RFU pressure on MT is now neither here nor there...he answers to higher powers smile Can you imagine a "Players Court" presided over by Liz, Phil and Anne? Chosen enforcers? B. Moore and J. Leonard.

Seems like Tindall's reduced fine was Martyn Thomas having a dif at Rob Andrew and Thomas himself has now been kicker out of the door a bit quicker than he was going to be.

Piss up/brewery....friggin farce.

I would imagine the chances of Tindall being picked for the six nations are minimal anyway...I certainly hope so. He's not going to be playing come the next RWC and wasn't exactly in great form anyway.
