Does anyone have anyt experience with these clubs? I'm an 18 'handicapper' and have had an offer of a new set of these (with driver, fairway woods) for a very cheap price. I could do with some new clubs and wondered if anyone uses them.

Cheers.

Have you had a swish with them? I wouldn't even contemplate buying something until you've tried them.

Yeah as a trial off them, two rounds minimum and a session at the driving range where you can compare them with your current clubs, take some mates as you can try theirs too for comparison.

Very popular it seems, but agreed, you need to try them out to see how you gel with them, or not as the case may be before deciding whether or not to part with the money

First off, if the price is too good to be true then watch out in case they're fake. You could take them to a local pro shop and ask their advice on this.

The TM R11 line is nice overall but as others have said you should try them before deciding what to do. The shaft flex is the most important part of whether they will suit you or not. You're always better off having gear that suits you, even if it's older, than new stuff that looks nice but doesn't fit your game.

Good luck

Cheers gents.
They are the real thing, as Taylor Made want to build a relationship with our bank and the guy has visited the offices. I think a full set of irons, the driver and a proper bag (with name on it if required!) will come in at around 750 quid.
I'd go for the steel shafts as I've been told me swing is too quick for the graphite. I can get to use them on the range, but not on the course, so will give them a go. My main concern is that whilst the pro's may think tehy're good, perhaps I'm not good enough to use them.
Currently have a set of 1o year old Nike Sling-shots, but they seem to work ok!

At £750 I would say not that great a deal, you can get much better deals on clubs from a pro shop which sells second hand clubs, golf is full of posers who change their clubs every year.
I got my MP-32's from a pro shop, they were two months old and had been used a handful of times, they were even re-gripped and I paid 250, they had a new set on the shelves for £529.
Also I have tried the new Taylor Made Drivers and found the Burner Superfast to be too light for me and the R11 was nowhere near as good as the Ping G15 I tried in both distance and accuracy.
I actually use a old R7 quad driver and wanted the new R11 but I will be getting the Ping.
It is not a bad deal, but not a great one, if you want to spend that visit a few shops and try some stuff out, the Taylor Mades may be perfect for you but at 18 handicap may I suggest Mizuno jpx-800 irons custom fitted and a Ping G15 driver custom fitted,
Good luck

R4's Gary Richardson once said:
After watching me play, my local golf pro advised,

"Gary, what you need to do is cut six inches off all your clubs"

"Will that really improve my game?" I said

"No, but you will find fitting them in the dustbin a lot easier."

No probs, good luck.
Also in my first few years golf I had crappy clubs and was close to spending a fortune on new clubs, instead I spent the money on a couple of lessons, most pro's are brilliant and they enjoy seeing someone improve, best thing I ever did, the rest was spent on visiting other decent courses apart from the one I was a member off, that variety and my new found awesomeness with my crappy clubs got me hooked for life smile

Actually that price is pretty damm good. The R11 irons come out at about £500 and the R11 driver is about £250. So your getting them at the decent price with a free bag worth £100.

Dont be put off buying a players iron at an 18 handicap. You'll grow into a club.
If your on the hunt for new clubs try as many as you can, dont be put off by lesser brands too. My personal recommendation would be to head down to somewhere like Ping down in Gainsborough, they will spend a good amount of time fitting you and giving you an idea of what shafts you need. You do not need graphite iron shafts. Any fit able bloke will be able to swing fast enough to use reg steel shafts.

Best go for a fitting with a company that is completely impartial and can offer all brands. If you go to a manufacturer's fitting centre you'll end up with product from them which may not be the best fit.

Ping dont sell you clubs. You have to buy through your pro or a shop. Obviously they only fit you for ping, but the fitters are not salesmen or on commission, unlike alot of ranges/fitters.
Another good fitting centre is the Belfry, the only issue is its £60. (But that £60 is taken off the price of any clubs you buy from them)

I am 14 hcap and have the R11 driver , its a lovely club and the adjustable features will give you a chance of changing the balance if your not happy with results , i tried the stiff and regular shaft and found very little difference between them . Its a good quality product if you like the feel of the clubs at address screw them down a bit on price and go for it . If you do buy them i would find a local pro that can check the fit once you have used them for a couple of months .

Are R11's a players club? I was under the impression that they are a top end GI iron.

Is your swing consistant? if not then I don't see the point of getting fitted and would wait until it is consistant (as I'm doing).
Agreed, but the OP should have a good idea as to shaft flex - especially if he's over 50 he's unlikely to need Stiff shafts, but under 30 he can probably carry off a stiff shaft. Again, get your swing measured by a pro.

Yep they are a Game Improver Iron at a pretty high price, not saying that they are bad clubs but it is a lot of money for GI irons.
Fitting can be beneficial, especially if you are a dwarf or a giant! talk to your Pro, he will keep you right, even mention the deal you have been offered and see what he suggests for you.

But it's woods, irons and bag. Agree on the height thing though. Also grip size won't change with your swing and is cheap to fix.

I'm not sure why spending money on golf equipment is frowned on upon here so much? You wouldn't put remoulds on a Porsche, so why people try and struggle round with 15 year old hand me downs is beyond me. Yes, if you are just starting off and are on a tight budget then it makes sense, but if you know you will play a lot and you can afford it then spend away.
