Anyone here do any target shooting? (mainly NW England)
Discussion
I used to do a bit when i was a kid in the cadets and loved it, but this is going back nearly 10 years or so now.
Used to love outdoor target shooting at and up to 1000 yrds. Anyone here do it?
I'd love to get back into it, but reading up on the firearms laws and stuff, means you need a gunclub to be a member of for a number of months, before theres any sniff of owning your own firearms.
On a releated note, if anyone has any ideas, or suggestions as to how i can get back into this, particularly North West England, it would be appreciated

There is a club based at the Altcar ranges near Formby. It is an Army Cadet and Reservists range but there is also a private target rifle club.
Here is a link to there website 101 Rifle Club.
I am an archer myself and was up there for a competition towards the end of the summer and there seemed to be plenty of shooting going on.

Definately join a club, it's full of like minded people who will help you progress through the sport and they will probably have their own range to use. Don't worry about the length of time you need to be a club member before applying for your FAC as it would take many months of shooting to decide what firearms would suit you anyway due to there being so many shooting disciplines and hence a variety of firearm types available.I'd love to get back into it, but reading up on the firearms laws and stuff, means you need a gunclub to be a member of for a number of months, before theres any sniff of owning your own firearms.
Our club is down south with it's own indoor pistol calibre range and very close to Bisley range which we book for the full bore long distance stuff, we occasionally use the military ranges to have a crack at Fig11's.
HERE is the NRA link to all UK affiliated clubs
