Hello All,
I am after walking shoes that will cope with very occasional rough terrain so not really hiking, the criteria for these shoes is as follows:
1 Men’s shoes
2 Smart so can walk to work in a suit
3 Budget is £40 to £75
I usually buy all my shoes from Clark's, but did not like what they had to offer and thought it might be wiser to get a bit of specialised advice and may be go to a specialised supplier.
Thanks for looking

Something in black from www.merrell.com might be ok for your requirements?

I can't see anything on the Merrell website that could be reasonably worn with a suit, which is probably the trickiest part of your criteria. Brasher do a range of travel shoes that are somewhere near something you might consider wearing with a suit but might still look a little odd. If you’re simply looking for better grip try looking for a shoe or boot with a commando sole (google it).

i cant think of anything suitable. there are some shoes from the likes of salomon and north face that will do the rough terrain but will look awful with a suit.

the problem with walking shoes is their lack of ankle support. they are not designed for incline/declines thus are pretty useless for rough terrain or going off the beaten path on the hills. walking shoe soles tend to be quuite aggressive and will be uncomfortable on flat even ground like a pavement too.

1. Buy some proper walking shoes.

2 Buy some posh work shoes.

3. Put work shoes in a bag (Netto carrier would be ideal).

4. Walk to work.

5. Change shoes when you get there.

The only I can think of that might be OK with a suit are Hotters.
