It's that time of year again, the British open kicks off at Royal St. George's on Thursday and I'm really looking forward to it. British players are dominating at the top of the world rankings so could we have the first winner from these shores since 1999?
What ever happens it looks like it's going to be a great tournament!

Just been looking at the odds, considering a flutter this weekend.
Rory McIlroy 6/1 with Ladbrooks. I know he's the main of the moment, but 6/1, seriously??!
The thing is, he will go one of two ways from now on in his careerRory McIlroy 6/1 with Ladbrooks. I know he's the main of the moment, but 6/1, seriously??!
1) never win another major and be classed as a failure for winning just one
or
2) he'll go nuts and win just about everything in sight, starting with this tournament
So putting him at 6/1 is them just being safe, if he wins, it doesnt cost them the earth, if he loses, they made some easy money
Anyway, i am really looking forward to this now, hopefully Westwood can make that jump and win a major

He will win more Majors, but nobody will dominate like the Tiger era we witnessed not so long back.
I would be very surprised if he went straight from winning the US to winning the British with nothing competitive in between, would be happy to be proved wrong, the kid is awesome to watch, even on the range.
Although Luuuuuuuuuke is making the right noises again cannot see someone winning the Scottish and British back to back.
I have a feeling that this could be Westy's tournament.
Who else plays links courses well?
I like Day as an each way bet (but for the fact that he's an unknown on links courses). Not sure he's got the game to win it.
Maybe someone like Harrington - but then again he's got an iffy putter at the moment.
I've put a fiver each way on Mcdowell but want to spread the rest of my huge budget (another £20!).

I'm going with Mcdowell, Harrington and Rickie Fowler all on each way bets. I'm not going to win the Euromillions on my budget but it just adds a little spice to the weekend's watching!
Edited to add: actually I didn't go with Mcd and Harrington. changed my mind. I went backed Fowler for a top ten finish and layed Mickelson to come no where! (not top 10).
