A class player when fit, probably England's best player in WC 2006. Is he now too much of a risk for a club to take on?

Perfect fit for Everton, I reckon. They have a habit of signing decent, but injury plagued players.

It's a shame the way his career has turned out.

I think he'll probably join a new club on a play as play basis. Can't see a side taking him on a salary.

As a toffee I was thinking about that. Doesn't always work though re Saha.

The only problem Hargreaves will have is the constraint on squad sizes....that will definitely make it harder for him to get a team.

I would love us, Fulham, to get him on a pay as you play deal. Granted that might not be very often, but he is a top player when fit. Easily would fit into the England side when on song.

There's a rose-tinted feel to this thread. My recollection of Hargreaves' playing style was that he was a specialist in lateral or backwards passes rather than someone who lit fires up front. That approach won't cut it in today's Prem.

Ripe for a homecoming appearance at the Reebok?

Decent - good player (in his position/type) but it will need a decent leap of faith for anyone to go for anything other than pay as you play. Shame, but these things happen & it isn't like he's going to be troubling the DWP.
