Kasatkina, almost flawless in winning the first set.

And despite some encouraging moments from Emma, Daria wins quite easily and handled the windy conditions better.

I think Emma has had a good week, and has got some useful preparation in for Wimbledon..

Didn't get to watch any of it today.......after yesterday's great effort was this a match too far? Still positive signs for Wimbledon or likely one or two wins at best?

She was outplayed today, possibly a bit tired from yesterday.

The commentators also kept mentioning about something going on behind the scenes that was affecting her.

But they had no idea what it was.

Seemed a bit strange. confused

Well it helps if you play tennis rather than choosing to opt out of qualifying or playing tournaments in favour of her many "RnR" breaks (oh sorry, I mean recovering from a billion injuries!). Only taken 3 years... in your own pace love! laugh
And what have you achieved in life so far to be so systematically negative about a young successful tennis player?

They haven't achieved anything Nick and they do not know how competitive top level sport is.
Exactly Andy, that's my assumption. It's incredibly competitive where the difference between success and failure is litteraly a few key points and/or a few mm.
I think Federer ‘only’ won 56% of the points over his entire career. And he’s one of the best the sport has ever seen.

Her opponent is crocked, so ER now playing the 98th seed... Got to say, she doesn't lack for luck.

Okay! Now playing Renata Zarazua instead. This is the kind of luck she'll need to make the most of.
As has been said before, Emma will need results as the wildcard offers lessen...!

Not a bad game to watch both players going for their shots, a good first round match to find your feet

Jo Konta just said in commentating, Emma's some marketable that she'll get unlimited wildcard invites?!

Wouldn't that suggest Emma's career isn't going that well?!

yep, her wildcards are never going to dry up. she is one of those players.

good on her for getting to that drop shot on her penultimate point.

Certainly challenged by the Mexican, and it was good for Emma to be tested in Round 1.

Hopefully better to come as she plays Elise Mertens in the next round.
