Dawson has been unlucky. England’s loss and Hampshire’s gain. Mind you Vince had his chances.

It looks like Jimmy will be staying on as part of England's coaching staff after he retires from playing. His final Test is next week against WI frown

Difficult job being a selector. Pretty lonely probably. Key has done his time at the sharp end of the sport, but I'm not sure he's making the right choices IMHO.

Just watching Jimmy bowling for Lancs at Southport on YouTube. Wouldn’t fancy facing him on that wicket in those conditions wink

6 for 19, he really shouldn’t be retiring, not from County cricket anyway

I don't think he has decided either way about County.

Must be hard to carry on playing that level when you've been an international for so long.

I know he prefers Test cricket but wonder if he'll throw his hat in the ring to any franchise gigs. Bit of dosh, bit of a laugh.

There don’t seem to be many details about this mentoring role he’s taking up with England, can’t see it leaving much room for county cricket though.

I don't think he decided about Test cricket either. He clearly has been asked to step aside. I've not seen any interviews since his announcement via social media but I imagine deep down he's still a bit pissed off. Interesting to see when he says in the run up to the first test. I imagine he'll be itching to put in a similar performance at Lord's; to simply send out a message via the cricket ball.

Still tiny part of me that hopes he plays an utter blinder and extends his playing until at least the end of the summer. Can't imagine it'll happen though.

I would like him to go out in a blaze of glory. Get loads of wickets then say ‘right that’s me done’ wink

It’s a rare day the planets align and I get any time to listen to or watch my beloved Lancashire on a working day. It’s a once a decade job that it happens and Jimmy is on one for the County. Such days live long in the memory smile
Frankly, it doesn’t matter if he is 41 or 61, but you give Jimmy a new cherry on a manky morning up in Gods own country and there is only one result.
Only good enough to be a bowling consultant eh?

Yep Jimmys only come once in a lifetime, so let’s just be grateful we were able to see and appreciate him live. Watched him today and he looks as fit as a fiddle.
