It’s payback. Visma buried him last yr under constant early pressure, aiming to drain his tank for the back end as they knew he was vulnerable.
This is turn around and him saying “I’m going to put a fking axe in your head for what you did to me last year!”
Tadej wants nothing more than wholesale slaughter this year.
Of course, repeated dominant performances will only raise more questions…
I think what you've written there offers more insight into your psyche than it does Pogacar's.
I genuinely don’t understand how you don’t get this mentality. There are numerous sociological studies, psychology studies and even financial studies comparing psychopaths and sociopaths with elite level performers.
So many in fact that it’s almost textbook consideration now.

Who said Romance is dead ?

On a more serious note I would love to think you are right. Better bikes, tyres etc. Not to mention improvments in diet and legal energy products.
However it being cycling it really is, rightly or wrongly too hard to believe.
I'll flip the question, how are people doping, what substances and what effects does it get them?

With previous doping eras everybody knew what they were taking and how. If everyone's doing it the information has to be widely known.

However for it to be a widespread problem it would have to be both significantly more sophisticated and also significantly more covert. Especially as privacy in the digital age is so much harder with everyone walking around with an HD video camera.

I have no doubt that riders who live in obscure countries with small or corrupt local anti doping agencies are probably much more able to use old school doping practices in the off season.

I'm not sure it is as easy to detect as thought.

The passport tries to normalise bloods, etc. against a known abnormal human. Now that's well established, it's not beyond the wit of man to pick up a youth, use easily detectable stuff to massively accelerate development - then after that's cleared out the system start in the competitive scene where the passport is 'set'.

Micro dosing of existing things like EPO (or own blood) to maintain levels at the artificially set passport level is likely more possible than ever.

Etc.

1. Because I'm not a censored
2. Because I'm not a psychopath or sociopath.

I've spent more than my fair share in the presence of them though and am well aware of their workings and the lengths that they will go to. What I can guarantee you is that Pogacar isn't thinking in language like that because:

a/ He's not a censored
b/ He's not a maladjusted 12 year old.

That’s an incredible achievement by Cavendish. He must be one of the greatest British sportspeople of all time.

I’ve always wanted Cav to win more, but to be honest I’d begun to think I wouldn’t see it happen again. That was classic Cav, he’s had some great wins in the past when he’s jumped on other leadout trains, and that was a prime example. Not a bad top 10 to have beaten either and, despite being pretty fast of late, Philipsen was doing nothing to get on terms with him there…

Based on todays performance, I would not be surprised to see Cav win more stages this year…

Holy st.

Just watched on highlights.

That is an insane effort - not just the power output, but the moves. Crikey he shifted around 4-5 times, made himself space at least twice, and truly outpaced everyone.

Completely agree there might be an additional stage or two in him.

Ditto.

After watching the suffering in the first few stages, I was beginning to fear the worst. How dare I doubt him. That was awesome.

I watched finish, jumped up shouting and hollering in pure delight.

So happy for Cav. Awesome.

I was there at his first stage win, just wish I could have been there for this.

Now got to find my cat, which st itself

I love how the French had tarmac’ed over part of the last two roundabouts for the sprint run-in - only in France would that happen

I hope that Cav makes it past stage 11 in the mountains, I’ll be on the finish line of the next stage which is a sprint finish

Fantastic win by Cav, really was seeing him sprint from yesteryear, and to do it mostly on his own too.

A Brit being the all-time leading stage winner in Le Tour is a bit like a Franchman being the all time leading run scorer in the county cricket championship.
