Great innings by Bell and Root but same old from England. Playing a lowly ranked Test Team and we need prep for NZ and Auz. So we start with a number 3 opening the batting, and playing a spinner who is rubbish in the 4 day game. While we leave a opener in Lyth who had an excellent county season, and the spinner who took the most wickets last season carrying the drinks.

Sometimes you can't make this up. England is a boys club, who just play there mates and no matter what form they are in and stuff any one else.
I'm hoping we don't get rolled over by NZ and ruin my trip to Edgbaston to watch the Ashes.
It was an odd team selection , Treadwell played 4 FC games last season , yet Rashid took loads of wickets last year and is carrying drinks. As Ali is more than likely flying back for the 2nd test be interesting to see how they move the order around to fit him in.

Never mind England, I'm pleased to see that my native county have picked up where they left off last season and given Worcestershire a proper hammering despite half their first team carrying drinks in the Caribbean!
And sidebottom went off with an injury , a great performance , as a team they have played few FC games the future looks bright.

We will see how many yorkshire players will be carry drinks in the 3rd test match first. Bairstow lyth rashid and Plunkett must be world class at it.We have signed Finch and Maxwell for 20\20s hopeful we will do better than usual.

Great game WI have wickets left needing 157 more. Still 50/50 for me.

While some of that is true , equally there is much muddled thinking. Cook and Moores don't want to listen to anyone but themselves. Why open with Trott when he isn't an opener and then leave Lyth to carry drinks ? The cull will probably come after the ashes.

Rumours are that Langer has got the job. Thoughts ? Not sure what experience he has coaching. He may be the best we can get. The best coaches are in IPL. 8 weeks work for a huge amount of money. Or come to England take a pay cut and have little time off in the full glare of the press.

Shame I don't think there is much mileage him playing test cricket but he could have been a great help in the ODI and 20\20 forms of the game. I do realise the ECB don't like players to pick and chose which form if the game they will play , however they would be a bit more flexible with the schedule England have.

Zimbabwe have arrived in Pakistan to play some ODIs and 20\20s . First the for 6 years to tour. I wonder how long till England or Oz go ? ICC say they aren't sending any officials not sure if that means they will use local umpires ?

Finally, after 6 long fking years. Got sick and tired of stty and dead up UAE.

I think local umpires being used including one Zimbabwean, and Aleem Dar too.

Security is mega, if everything goes nice and sweet, I hope this will convince teams to tour Pakistan in the future.

Big up to Zimbabwe for touring. Will feel good to finally watch Pakistan in Pakistan.
I'm not sure ICC are totally convinced but its a step in the right direction. I did see some pics of Zim arriving in Pakistan. The 7km from the airport to the hotel was closed to all other traffic and lined with thousands of soldiers and policemen.

As a Yorkshire supporter I am happy Gillespie is staying. As an England supporter I think they should have chosen Gillespie.

Lets see how Bayliss does though.
Very pleased JG is staying at YCCC can't think who would we would replace him with. JG has coached elsewhere , he has coached in IPL , Zimbabwe and coaches in the big bash in the winter.

ICC have revised playing conditions for ODIS. They gave removed batting powerplays , removed the need for a player in a catching position and are looking at the seam to see if it can be adjusted to help the bowlers.
DRS is still series by series though because of India. Not sure what the issue is. They say it's down to accuracy of DRS. Doesn't add up to me probably comes down to money somewhere along the line.

Aus and NZ have agreed to play a day night test in December. I know there have been alot of trials with the pink ball still be interested to see how it goes.

1st v 2nd in the championship , Bairstow and Bresnan broke quite a few records today. Highest 7th wicket in county championship history. Great to see Bairstow playing so well good for England should he need to play v Australia.

Had a decent go at that massive target. Not really Yccc's format TBH , we haven't really clicked at 20\20 bar one season. We usually get knocked out in the group stages. We brought in 2 20\20 specialists this season , not made much difference. Finch has ended up in the second XI and Maxwell has been very poor bar one game. We would be better off playing academy players.

Pakistan score 382\3 to win v SL. Pretty good chase that not many teams have scored 350+ 4th innings

Mmm done correctly it good be a boost for the game. A block of games in a 4 week period could be the chance to get the best 20\20 players to come for the whole tournament. I see the ECB are thinking about keeping the existing county 20\20 tournament which would be madness. It would mean a reduction in the number of county games not a good idea , what we have now is about right.
