Sorry to be Mr Grumpy, but I have just watched some of it and it's just like watching a couple of blokes down the local snooker hall - missing pots, complete mis-judgement of shots. Very little actual talent on display.

No need to apologise, you're right but it's good to see some of the old timers.

If you actually recognise any of them, the chap playing Tony Knowles looked quite young but no clue who he was despite knowing his name....

I read that as Tony Knowles being played by an actor. Hot day smile

I like Jimmy, but seeing this other guys wife and kid in the front row, and what it means to them, I want him to win it more.

The seniors is the same every year i.e. poor.

Just makes you realise how good the main bunch are.

RIP Ray Reardon

https://www.bbc.com/sport/snooker/articles/cjewjqn...

I worked at Butlins, Bognor many years ago, and he used to come up every week from Devon to play some exhibition matches, great bloke

Had a chauffer and number plate Pot 147 on his vauxhall senator

Cheltenham was an entertaining evening last night, always good to watch Judd in person, up close you can almost see his brain ticking through his shot options and a little naughty snooker at the very end too!

Bingham's match was a good one too, though the chap he was playing seemed on the slow side.

I like the Centuar club as a venue and less than £20 for a full evening, with free seating so you can move between the 8 matches taking place seems really good value to me.

Ally Pally for me again next, enjoyed that so much in 2024 that we booked for '25 as soon as tickets came out.

Shame O'Sullivan isn't there. It does make such a difference.

Everybody else seems so pedestrian by comparison.

The door staff at the venue were saying that lots of attendees were complaining, saying that they only bought tickets so that they could see him,
They reckon attendance in general drops significantly without Ronnie, and to be fair tables 3&4 last night had literally 1 guy sat watching them so the venue was nowhere near full.

Watched Ronnie play last tuesday at the brentwood centre, everyone turned up to watch him. He then seemed like he couldnt be bothered after going 2-0 down. Lost and then 70% of the crowd left.

Which was fine as gave me a lot more leg room, to watch the next match.

I only watch on TV but I prefer it once he's got knocked out. I just find him annoying. Having said that I dont want Trump or Selby to with either. Perhaps a bad reflection on me but that's just how it is.

I used to really enjoy watching Ronnie years back, but not so much now though as you say. I don't mind Trump to be fair, but Selby just generally bores the ass off me to watch. Folk call him Slowby for good reason I reckon.

I think the ref's need to head to specsavers....one in Higgins v Murphy earlier today: a safety shot had the white run into the pink by mistake, the ref spent so long replacing the pink and the white, he forgot it had popped a red out the other side of the pack!!

I got very lucky in 2016 when they played the English Open at Manchester Event City. Won a competition in the Daily Star for 2 tickets to the final with a back stage tour beforehand where we got to have photos at the table, sit in the players seats, go in the Eurosport Studio etc. Met Ronnie, Jimmy White, Andy Goldstein and the best bit was I got to do the coin toss with Judd Trump and Liang Wenbo to decide who broke off first. Fumbled the coin toss a bit, it flew everywhere and I tried to catch it nearly whacking Liang in the face ha ha

You probably should have whacked him in the face.
