Interesting.
Anybody know why?
No. I guess it's just down to commercial reasons, the same as why F1 and football teams change sponsors.Anybody know why?
Seeing that I hadn't heard of Tribesports before this (had the rest of you?) it's going to give them a huge amount of publicity, they might have to give away a lot of T shirts, but that's probably quite cheap compared to paying for advertising.
On annoying thing about the change is we can't use our parkrun flag any more cos is has a big adidas logo in the middle.

I can't see why a billion dollar company would walk away from the goodwill generated by handing out Tees for a profit-free organisation.
adidas weren't a parkrun sponsor for all countries, I know they wouldn't take on the USA, so maybe parkrun walked away from them in order to be with someone who would be worldwide? Who knows! The main thing is that free Ts for everyone is guaranteed, unfortunately with a delay. It would have been easy to just stop giving them out at all so it's good that the will is still there - 300,000 shirts expected do be given during the 5 years of the agreement, it's a big commitment! Anybody get out and do a New Years Day double? Ran 19:53 at Brueton Parkrun and then 19:25 at Cannon Hill. Bloody knackered now... One goal for 2015 is to go back and revisit all the events on my list and get them under 20 minutes.
I did Sedgefield then Darlington. At a much more leisurely pace than you, though. Cybertronian said:
Through chance and good fortune, I found myself at a smaller Parkrun this morning devoid of any fast club runners (local XC league this afternoon) and managed a first place finish!
Wow - well done. It's funny how it sometimes works out like that isn't it. I recently ran at Bushy Park and couldn't believe it when I came 13th (it was still a big field at 1,011 runners but I guess many of the super fast runners weren't there.) Would love to make it to the top ten one day!EdJ said:

Cheers Ed! 13th at Bushy is some good going! Only 28 at the event I attended this morning! It was a rollercoaster of emotions as I arrived at the venue. Only me and somebody else in the car park, and he was a fast local vet runner, so I wrote-off my chances. Then he said he was tapering for something later, so my interest was back on. Then he hit me with the sledgehammer that there was the local XC league on and wouldn't be many speedsters in attendance!

I think there was indeed a lack of the very top end, a chap I know through cycling won it and he usually comes 5th or so. (wears a green shirt that has vegan written on it)I just completed my first Parkrun!
To set the scene, I'm incredibly unfit and haven't done ANY exercise for about 9 months. I have had short periods of going out for very slow jogs a few times a week but I never kept track of times or distances.
My ambition for this year is to get fit, so I'm hoping to participate in Parkruns to keep improving my times.
My starting point: 35:23

Well done and I'm afraid it's a slippery slope now

There was an old boy in his 70's just a few places in front of me that I just couldn't catch!
On the flip side, there was a 7 year old girl that I managed to inch past on the home straight!
I am a fair runner and remember being beaten by a 60 year old, and in front of him was a 70 year old. To be fair this was the met league here in the home counties and a very high standard of runner. On the flip side, there was a 7 year old girl that I managed to inch past on the home straight!
parkrun was cold and miserable, did my usual set up of signs then ran with my 8 year old boy. He did St Albans in 30:01 on new years day, but lost all momentum today in the conditions, ours is offroad in the mud too. Had to piggy back him about a quarter of the way around, only on the home straight when I pointed out the van selling hot chocolate did he recover. Not going to let him run in extreme conditions like today, might put him off. At one point the tail runner overtook us, I did tell him to run on past us. 140 hardened runners, I guessed 50 might turn up.

I'd heartily recommend the Couch To 5k programme to anyone new to running, a great way to get up to 5k in 30 mins or so without ever being such hard work to put you off

My big goal at the moment is sub 30 minutes and I'm intrigued to see how long that takes to achieve.

it sounds trite to say it and i know we all like to improve our times, but *really*, the times aren't the important thing. the most important things are, first, that you're actually out there running and, second, that you are enjoying it - keep it up
