To be honest I have gone off the main YT golfers. Never liked Shiels, or Finch really, and only really watched Crossfield before. I dont buy new clubs, and dont want tips as im having lessons and YT tips will cause me more problems. biggrin

The only YT i watch is SAS Golf (secondhand clubs) and Bob Does Sports as its just entertainment.
I love Bob Does Sports. They are hilarious and Fat Perez is a legend. One of the latest ones where they get an FP mulligan every hole is brilliant as he just walks up to the ball and knocks it close then strolls off is so funny.

The Harington quote about realising you're not good enough to play your best golf with a bad attitude is so true, being positive and realistic is worth quite a few shots on the course.

I had my best round so far on Tuesday evening (well 13 holes) and I took a really positive attitude to the course the only time I was a bit gutted was the 3 putt on a par 3 when my tee shot was 10 foot from the hole, but heh it happens.

I've been limping along without a 7 and 8 iron which hasn't really helped when the choice is either a 6 iron or 9, so I managed to track down a matching 7 & 8 last night I think that's really going to help my approach play.

Might be me but can't stand the bloke and never liked his swing. Air of superiority about him.
I get not liking him, he is a bit of a whiney douche at times, but his swing is as good as it gets objectively.

I can't think of a single bad thing about it, and when he plays with world class players, every single one of them, praises him for his ball striking.
I agree, Peter's swing is top class, very controlled, very smooth and technically perfect.

Yep, and he also has real speed, his swing is PGA Tour good, not just YT good. Mental game though biggrin

My fave at the moment is DOD King, he's ridiculously good, and funny with it.

Finch is a really good golfer watched his YT vid around Pinehurst No2 a 79 off the championship tees, I find him very self-deprecating rather than arrogant, seems like a nice guy to me.

Stance too wide, sways off the ball, doesn't get his weight transfer forwards IMHO.

I'm nitpicking here but comments like 'stance too wide' are peculiar with how definitive they are.

If you follow that criticism logically then...

Watson- stance too narrow
Daly- swing too long
Rahm- grip too weak
Johnson- grip too strong
Furyk- swing too steep
Hogan- swing too flat

You get my point, you don't need to have 'textbook' to play good golf.

Don't really agree, can't think of any good PGA players with too wide stances for their physique. A point I've made before is if you were to look down the line at impact of all the above they would all be VERY similar, yes including Furyk.

Can't be bothered to spend too much time looking up the positions of someone who scores 83 in an actual competition, but his hips turn too flat as a consequence of his stance and lack of weight transfer.

I found his bad moods when things weren't going his way to become a bit irritating.

However I think that Padraig Harrington telling him that you can't play good golf with a bad attitude really struck a chord with him. Harrington even suggested that it is WAS arrogant think that you could play good golf with a bad attitude.

Hopefully in future videos Peter will be more tolerant of any poor play and his grumpy tendencies will be reduced.

You have to take the comments by Harington in the spirit that they were intended, he was effectively saying stop beating yourself up, he posed the question "are you that arrogant?" He didn't call him arrogant.

Loads of golfers get inside their own heads on the golf course and it's self defeating, Finch is not alone in that and if he can be more accepting of his bad shots (just like the rest of us need to be) He will play better golf.

I agree; didn't mean to suggest Padraig suggested he specifically was arrogant.

What a day. Course was in great shape, greens running quick and true but despite throwing it in high I was struggling to hold them at times.

Started well with a birdie down 1, then my driver went to st, coming back to life on the 14th. Thankfully some scrambling saw me with a +12/31 points - will take that for the first time there!

I agree, Padraig was doing exactly what a "mind coach" would do, constructive criticism. For the previous poster who said about Peter scoring an 83 in a competition, there is this.

Sunningdale does look fantastic, I'm fairly jealous smile

Had a cracking game of golf last night in our scratch knockout, playing against a guy off 12. He was my partner at Trentham last week where I think we were one over between us in better ball format, so knew I was going to get a game. We were both 1 over after 7 and sitting all square, until he unfortunately shanked a ball OB on 8 and 9, so I was 2 up after 12. Then a couple of loose drives came into play and we were level after 14, then I won 15 16 and 17 to finish it 3 and 1.

I worked out I was 2 under my handicap when he conceded 17, so he couldn't have been too far off that himself. Great match played in the right spirit - most in gimme range were conceded apart from one testing downhill put I had, no gamesmanship or anything like that - just a really good game of golf whoever ended up winning.

Next round I'm playing a guy off 2, should be fun....

Just back from 18 at Azata, Estepona. It’s a pretty ordinary course compared to many round here (greens are very good, but the course design is poor and with no fairway watering, it’s rock hard)… but it is cheap (only €40 as a members guest).

Teed off at 8, and half way down the 1st had horizontal rain… it was, relative to what you’d expect here at this time of year, freezing cold… shorts and t shirts, no jumper, waterproofs or brollies, so we sheltered in the buggy for 15 mins while it passed. It remained super windy, but at least we didn’t have any more rain.

Didn’t hit a decent shot until the 5th tee, then parred 6 & 7, bogied 8 and parred 9. Had a 7 on 15, but otherwise pars and bogeys on the back.

Oh, and forgot my shoes so had to play in a pair of Adidas sambas… not ideal laugh
