I'm seriously considering a 7 wood, too. My 5 wood is probably my favourite club at the moment, and I've ditched the hybrid so currently go from that to a 4 iron.
I went through this process last year.

Ended up ditching the 4 iron and buying the 7 wood. So now top of bag is D, 5w, 7w.

Depending on the weather/course I will change out the 7 wood for a driving iron (19). I have the 2 and 4 Titleist U505 but cant get on with either so will probably sell them. The utility iron I'm now using the is the new Mizuno Fli-Hi. I am much happier with it - not as chunky as the U505, looks better (to me) over the ball, and a ball flight I prefer.

My problem now is I keep having dirty thoughts about the TM P790s.
Interesting - sounds like a good plan (4 iron is patchy at best for me!).

Went to have a look at the T200 - they only had a 3 iron in stock but I'm liking what I see so far - very little offset (which drives me up the wall) and can't see the back of the cavity from above.

Couldn't have a go as they don't have any demo clubs, but asked coach if we can do a fitting on my lesson next week, so will report back with what I've ordered smile

Caddied for my mate today at open qualifying, great experience.

We were at kedleston park, and our three ball had Pete Cowens grandson (+4.8hcp) and a young pro from Essex who qualified for the open back in 2021.

Mate didn't really look out of place, however, come the end of the round all three of them struggled and were off the pace to qualify. Brutal course though, miss the fairway and it turns into a nightmare and the greens weren't much more forgiving.

Was good to see the likes of Robert Rock and some other pros from the smaller tours, get to see how golf should be played

Nice one Dan, was that Gary you caddied for? I note on social media, Finch shot +12 i qualy, Andy Carter much better, with a +1, just missing out. I think for the YT golfers it's a no brainer as content, brave perhaps, but good to see them putting themselves out there.

Regarding long irons/top of bag, I would definitely like a more traditional iron looking utility next time. Currently have the Adam Pro mini, it's a lovely thing, but I don't swing it as nicely as I did my old, traditional 1 iron.

I’m gutted for Finch. He was genuinely playing some really good golf, maybe not the very best of the YTers but damn close. In his own words he just played awfully, which I guess was pressure? He took it very seriously, it didn’t seem like something ‘just’ for clicks, although obviously that was a large part of it.

PGA Tour quality swing, 10HC mental game imo. If you want to watch an absolute baller on YT, DOD is just a beast, absolutely fearless, backs it up with skills and balls.

Anyone tried the Titleist T200 Utility Iron? Currently have a TM P770 3 iron which I'm struggling to get on with. Easy enough to launch but I'm having the devil's own job keeping it straight, and even when it does work being hollow bodied and foam filled in not really a fan of the feel.

Wife has authorised a purchase so I'm looking at these with interest, also considering a 7 wood of some description.

My bag currently goes Driver (270) - 3 Wood (250) - 3 Hybrid (230)- 3 iron (210) and I'm looking for something a bit more solid for off the tee and I have to get it in play. The 3 iron should be ideal, sadly it's the least accurate club in the bag.

Have got a lesson next week and will chat to coach, but all ideas and excuses to look at golf clubs in the meantime are most welcome smile
Here was mine (anything to show it off) great club and absolute rocket, very easy to hit.

I would have loved one of those woods, but with my ball speed and spin, they just don't work for me, tried multiple times in fittings now. In the end settled on a hybrid.

Oh cool! I bought a shaft off of Sam, (on the back of the Gary/Sam vids) seems a great guy, and a good golfer then too?

He's "only" a scratch golfer but plays at county golf, so we weren't expecting him to keep with the big boys. But he played very well, in our group we had Pete Cowens grandson who plays off +4.7 and Connor Worsdall who has qualified for the open before and has played in the smaller tours.

Sam didn't look out of place one bit. None of them qualified and Sam only finished a couple shots back of them both.

SkyTrak v5 was released yesterday. A pretty major upgrade, and compatible with the older device.

Looks pretty good.

Might be me but can't stand the bloke and never liked his swing. Air of superiority about him.

Went out for a cheeky 9 holes before work this morning, and it was glorious out there. Starting to get a bit warm, but it was just me, a couple of other singles and the greenkeepers, and was a thoroughly pleasant way to start the day.

Shows the challenge of Stone at the minute as well - that knee high cabbage is less than 10 yards from the green, which focuses the mind on the approach somewhat.

Shot 4 over after being 4 over after 3, so fairly pleased. Just need to keep that form up for my scratch match tomorrow evening.

I don’t think it’s just you at all!

He definitely has an ego, which I think clashes with a lot of doubt and mental insecurity about his game. I like his sarcasm, but it’s not for everyone, and I think your opinion of him won’t be uncommon.

I liked that he seems to have really taken on board, as much as he can, Harrington’s comment to him, which was almost exactly “are you so arrogant that you think you deserve a good score?”

Yeah I'm not a fan at all. As the channel has got bigger, so has his ego. I'm team Shiels all the way. Finch is a better golfer, I'm sure (but I notice Rick shot lower in Open qualifying hehe), so it depends what you watch the videos for.

I used to be in that camp - Just didn't take to him for some reason and for a long time, I thought he just seemed llike a poor imitation of Rick S.

But now my view has completely flipped - I'd probably now put him up as my favourite atm - The production quality of the content, the podcast & team, as well as his attitude shift has made his content far more watchable than Rick or someone like Grant Horvat (ugh) for me.

I *think most of if comes down to the team around him - I think he has hired well and they do a good job - Not sure the same can be said for Rick's team.

FInch's Harrington video was really great (and worth a watch, even if you think you don't like him)

Got to say, the Harrington video is one of my favourites, have rewatched numerous times. Such good content

To be honest I have gone off the main YT golfers. Never liked Shiels, or Finch really, and only really watched Crossfield before. I dont buy new clubs, and dont want tips as im having lessons and YT tips will cause me more problems. biggrin

The only YT i watch is SAS Golf (secondhand clubs) and Bob Does Sports as its just entertainment.

I get not liking him, he is a bit of a whiney douche at times, but his swing is as good as it gets objectively.

I can't think of a single bad thing about it, and when he plays with world class players, every single one of them, praises him for his ball striking.
