You a bouncer or copper?
Worked doors from aged 17 till I was 50 man, had a few doors by the end. Changed careers at 50, the physical stuff ain't needed anymore, but the conflict management is!

Another one for judo. I am literally outside a village hall waiting to pick up my now 17 year old son. He's been going since he was about 6 too, about to enter a competition to try to grade black and loves it; he's learned some useful skills along the way.

Another for Judo.
I started at about 8 and at the time we all thought we wanted to “progress” to Karate.
It wasn’t until some years later after studying Karate, Kung Fu, Ju-jitsu etc that I realised how great Judo was/is.
Those early lessons stay with me until this day (57). Learning how to fall and roll correctly, balance, positioning, controlling and using an opponent’s body weight is great stuff.
If he then wants to go onto mma of bjj the Judo will serve him well.
