We'll done Ewen!

You've inspired me, I'll try one of these when I'm back in the uk over Christmas. Just checked and Weymouth looks feasible. I might even get a decent finish.
How does the start work, you just line up and run, then get scanned at the end?

It's my local too, although I've registered I've not done one yet as it clashes with taking my son to Rugbytots!Did the Birchwood Santa Dash yesterday though. My best is 24.05 so I'm no runner!
Great, let me know when you aim to. Is the Santa dash flat? PF will be a bit slower.
Santa Dash is flat with small inclines over bridges etc. Its mainly through trails/paths of the forest park. Muddy/stoney in places.

I know PF well and know the 5km there is pretty tough with the turns, hills and terrain. Keen to have a crack at it when I get chance.
woohoo Got a mention in the run report hehehttp://www.parkrun.org.uk/penningtonflash/news/201...

Good work! PB outranks first finisher IMO.

Line up, run, take position tag at finish, scan personal barcode, scan position tag. I carried my personal barcode in a ziplock bag in my shorts zip pocket.

Weymouth is a fairly easy run, part of the loop at the beginning and end can be very wet. Then a drag up to the top of the course before retracing your steps. Wasn't too busy when I ran it but they needed to move the handing over of finish tokens back from the finish line as when the queue built up it was back over the line. Unless they have given up they were doing a very odd warm up chant thing with actions at the beginning.

Our local run, Orpington, will be having mulled wine and mince pies, along with fancy dress on 21st which should be fun.

My local's having an Xmas themed fancy dress day as well on the 21st. Will be dressing as Santa again as I've done for the previous 2 years. Last year, I had an awful cold but soon warmed up once I started running. As each lap passed, I took off another layer of the suit until I was just running in my normal running gear and the Santa hat. I was just 2 seconds off a new PB as well given all the faffing!

These official plastic tags are a good weather and sweat proof option (got the dual pack):

I got the triple pack, one on each pair of shoes means you just can't forget it.

Register online first to get a barcode that you print out and take along with you.

Came third today in my local run at blackhill in a time of 21.07. Which i think is the same as my best ever (although they timed it at 21.04). Came higher up the field than normal as theres a huge cross country run on this afternoon which meant most of the fast lads weren't running.

I think i would have snatched 2nd in the last 100m had some helpful old lady not shouted "he's behind you" to the lad in front of me.

It is pantomime season after all!

Well done, by my standards that's a pretty good time!

Saw my osteopath/physio last week and he spent a fair bit of time on my ITB, the result of which was a parkrun with no knee pain and 54 seconds off my PB!

The nutter on crutches managed 42:54 this week, I'm worried that he'll he'll be faster than me before he looses the crutches biggrin

Much better run this morning than last week, finishing with 19:43. Still a huge void from my 19:18 PB but I don't think I'll be pushing out times like that until after my spring marathon.

It was a comedy moment, at the finish i had to restrain myself from giving the woman a talking to! Whilst i am not very good i am probably a bit too competitive.

Still at least i can bost i came 3rd out of 56, (even though a few of them are kids)

I managed to get my second ever sub 19 minute time of 18:59. Not quite a PB but really chuffed all the same.

Numbers were a bit down at Bushy Park - 791 vs a usual turnout closer to 1000. Still, the quick runners were there as I was 33rd compared to my best ever of 26th.

Ooo, there's a new parkrun starting next week about 15 minutes from the hotel we'll be in the week after in South Africa, it'd be rude not too wouldn't it.

"Look at this Mrs Rizzo, I picked a hotel at random, could have been anywhere in the world, to take you on holiday and bugger me, there's a parkrun just round the corner."

Will she believe you? smile But it certainly would be rude not to!
