They clearly need to be a bit stricter with chucking out the shouters. The ref threatened them about 6 times that they'd be evicted but obviously nothing was done!

Have to say I found the post-match interview with ROS very hard to watch, almost cringe-inducing. He clearly has some demons! Slightly ironic that he is quoted on BBC sport today saying that Carter needs to see a counsellor! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/67988328

Or have the table and surrounding area in a giant soundproof dome with one way glass so the audience can't be seen or heard.

Simple solution, 1 warning then if you do it again you are removed.

We all know this. The media know it, especially. It's always good copy. I do think that in this instance the unvarnished truth is that Carter is problematic. He has a very antagonistic demeanour, and probably understandably given his health issues. He seems sour, sardonic, and beseiged. It doesn't necessarily excuse him from being a knob though.

Personally I think Ronnie's biggest "fault" is being truthful when perhaps it might be politically better to be more circumspect. Still, I wouldn't change it, and until other players start competing he won't change. Mark Allen tells it how it is, periodically, and it makes for more interesting interviews.

I also think that Ronnie in competition mode is very different to the guy round at Hendry's having a laugh. Whatever he says, winning titles and breaking records is important to him.

The biggest disappointment for me was Hazel's jackets. In the afternoon session of the final she was wearing a pink one. My missus said she had been wearing a blue and yellow one in previous days so we were convinced she was going through the colours in order, up to the last session. biglaugh

It was devastating to see she wasn't wearing black for the last session !

Carter has had a go at Ronnie for 'snotting all over the floor' during matches. 'It's outrageous behaviour from a top professional and if it gets swept under the carpet then it's not good."
I'd prefer it to be swept under the carpet if I was his opponent, better that than stepping in it.

In most of the matches I watch (like the one on now), at some point during the match it sounds like someone knocks over a small bookcase somewhere nearby. Any guesses?

Sounds like a big heavy door slamming shut to me. I noticed the same sort of thing during the Masters too.

I’m finding the audio quality on ITV4 is generally awful, sounds like a it’s hammering down with rain when the players are at the table.

In his interview before todays match.

He says different things on different days. I don’t think he even knows what’s going to come out of his mouth at certain times, so I actually feel a bit sorry for him. I don’t think he’s that well mentally.
As I said earlier in the thread, not much love lost between these two biglaugh

Yes - I guess that a door is the more likely culprit. It does seem to happen in lots of tournaments though but always seem to be right near a microphone.

It’s all getting a bit heated between ROS and AC. They clearly loathe one another. I love a bit of needle, and no surprise it’s The Captain who’s providing it. Must be some Essex badland bad blood.

Evening session provided some entertainment with Mark Williams pocketing (hiding) the cue ball when the ref was trying to sort out ball positioning after he'd already missed a fine cut on a red twice and getting a 7 point foul against him.

Hossein Vafaie messed up the scoring in the 2nd frame, potted the pink thinking he'd won the frame before realising he still needed the black and ended up leaving it on a shot later and losing the frame.

Then at the end walking off and having a minor spat backstage with Williams over a "thigh slap" at his annoyance at missing the pink and leaving the frame open (albeit with a snooker required) for Vafaie to play on, but he elected not to play on and instead ended the game.

Notable the way the expert ex-players move from one TV channel to the next. I do enjoy hearing Ken Dohery say the word "blue" though. I feel compelled to repeat it back every time.

"His lead is reduced to 4-3".

No, it isn't. It's reduced to 1.

Will feature a Golden Ball (Riyadh Season 23rd ball) worth 20 points that gets introduced at the end of any 147 break to make the maximum 167 lol

Saudi sport washing continues unabated it seems. And a 167 is ridiculous.

Had to laugh reading Shaun Murphy's comments justifying it all, as reported in the Guardian. Boiling down to "just hold your nose and think of the cash", with a sprinkling of two-bit whataboutery referencing the UK's colonial history that wouldn't pass muster in a sixth form debating club. As if we needed another reason to dislike the bloke.

biglaugh Yes he is a bit too pleased with himself isn't he. Good snooker commentator though. I groaned when I read about the bloody golden ball, why do the Saudis think that making something/everything gold automatically makes it great?

They were talking about Shaun Murphy the other day during one his matches, saying he was very different to most (if not all players). Wears a proper bow tie, which they said most players wouldn't be able to even tie one, wears some red felt dinner jacket or something and knocks about in a Rolls Royce. I can imagine he is a bit pompous!
