If you like good food and an excellent half of Timothy Taylor Landlord try the Olde Red Lion, Kisligbury - http://northantscamra.referata.com/wiki/Olde_Red_L...
and for an excellent, quintessential English country pub with good beer and less usual nibbles (not full blown meals) - check out the rear garden - note opening times - King's Arms, Farthingstone - http://northantscamra.referata.com/wiki/King%27s_A...

Also Griffin, Pitsford has a reasonable reputation and good Potbelly beer - http://northantscamra.referata.com/wiki/Griffin,_P...
If they don't drink real ale (a high quality natural food) and only wine then - http://www.redlioneasthaddon.co.uk/
If they're the type of foodies that enjoy eating good food there's a good few pubs around
If they're the type of foodies that want others to know they're eating expensive food by being with other like minded people there's places around for that too how much do you want your/their wallet to squeak

NA love the Kings Arms suggestion.. I can see it from my office window and I've just got back from walking the dogs with Denise (the Land Lady) just a shame it doesn't open at all during the day!!..........it's their last Winter Casserole night tonight too!!
I'll have a dig on the other topic, but I was really more after something either in or closer to Daventry.

Marcellus, you lucky (and wealthy?) git – bear in mind the pub reduced its hours to try and get it de-licensed so we're all lucky it’s still a pub – just think how much that would be worth as a private dwellingIIRC the pub was formerly owned by a local N’pton rogue, Frank Brieley in the ‘60s
I can’t help with eating out, that’s Mrs Beer’s field of speciality - I’ll ask as she has a friend in Welton
Food at Fox & Hounds (Althorp Coaching Inn), Great Brington looked reasonable last night - http://northantscamra.referata.com/wiki/Althorp_Co...

Alas neither.. which is why we're moving into surburbia of Daventry will miss the village... and yes god knows how much it would be worth as a domestic dwelling, I reckon that's all that Paul and Denise are hanging on for and run it the hours they need to cover the finance costs..Marcellus said:

I'll not get going on house investments and prices - anyone who's been to our place knows I've not escalated eitherMarcellus said:

I'm sure you're right but they have had to run it as a pub and will probably have to in the future so people should visit whilst it's there and keep it goingBack to topic, no sorry Mrs Beer can't think of anywhere around Daventry way since the White Horse, Welton has changed hands
You could ask about the food quality at Royal Oak, Flore now Jacqui and (Steve?) are running it as they used to be at the Althorp Coaching Inn (Fox & Hounds), Great Brington and that had/has a reasonable reputation for food
oh, just remembered, something to impress foodies - Michelin-star chef takes pub restaurant to new heights - Red lion, East Haddon - http://www.redlioneasthaddon.co.uk/2010/08/lorem-i...
that should suit Nick as he's a bit sniffy

This place is really good and great price http://www.huntsmancarvery.com/pages/home.asp but can have a waiting list so best to call first
Went to The Carpenter's Arms in Lower Boddington last week. Had the best pub food I've tried for a long time. Great Hook Norton too. Don't be put off by the exterior!
The food at the Red Lion in Culworth is very good, but you need to book (evenings anyway).
Edit- Pub name completely Wrong!!
