Anyone locally got a fault code reader likely to be compatible with my Signum 2005 1.9 Cdti?

Better still if anyone has access to Op com or Tech2 I'd be grateful as I'm trying to track down the codes and VX want silly money just to plug it in and read the codes.

goes out - it happened once before and Vaufault said it was the glow plugs, all were replaced, but I'm sure it's an inbuilt cost meter...' you havn't spent much on the car this year.... time to spend some more'

If it goes out immediately you start the car its just a stored fault code.

I know mine has stored codes but also the electronics light (car/spanner) comes on shortly after starting for about a mile then goes out. I suspect EGR valve sticking but need to check fault codes hence my post.

fingers crossed it's just a code.... had my EGR valve go on me - loss of power on hills, had to be replaced 6 months before the glow plug situation.
Hopefully it's not your Air mass Sensor.!

I've already had the EGR valve go but thanks to the Vecta C/Signum forum I managed to repair the original. It really is a crappy design. The crud that builds up in the inlet manifold as a result is unbelievable.

Last service main stealer charged me £200 for changing the oil and oil filter. I kid you not. When Mrs TT went to pick it up they said it was unroadworthy due to a broken front road spring (another common problem) and a corroded brake pipe. They asked her if they would like them to 'Pop her in a loan car'. Quoted £1000.00. Springs fitted by me following day £70 from a factors who told me they supply loads of these springs to main stealers. Main stealer bill them out at £250 a pair. Due to complication of having to drop the fuel tank I had a local indy change the pipe and fluid for £150.

The car went back to the main dealer to do the job properly when I showed them what should have been done according to their servicing menu. Had to go back a third time because they hadn't reset the service counter and hadn't read and cleared the codes that they aid they would do.

Recently the connector bar for the swirl valves became detached due to wear in the plastic links - more poor design. Vauxhall's solution is a new inlet manifold needs fitting. Their quote £1000.00 inc VAT and more if I want them to do the water pump, timing belt and pulleys at the same time. I managed a fix using some rubber washers thanks to the Vecta C/Signum forum and cost me nothing. It's debatable how long it will last but even if it doesn't (as there are tell tale signs of leakage around the swirl valves, I have a guy lined up that will do the lot for £150 -£200 in a day if I supply the parts which I can get for around £350 and that includes the water pump, belt and idlers.

Some idiot clouted the door mirror and broke surround. Can't buy that part seprately sire, that will be £65 plus VAT for the whole casing excluding the painted outer and the glass. You should be thankful sire that they didn't break the photochromatic glass fitted to your dipping door mirror. That would be £140 plus VAT.

Bear in mind the above car has done 59,000 miles and I bought it with only 39K on the clock exactly 12 months ago it has cost me more that any other car I've ever owned including the TVR. Well, it would have done if I had paid dealer prices and had the work done that they recommended.

And the saga continues.

Much as I like the car I really am tempted to sell it and buy a Toyota.

Got an Android based mobile, or an iphone/iPad?

Seems like a bit of a bargain.

scratchchin

I started to read a review on this somewhere the other day and got distracted.

IIRC there was significant delay so not real time data but adequate for fault finding.
