Just moved into the County and I've got 4 bins;

Grey Wheelie - General Rubbish - this I understand

Green Wheelie - Vegetable waste - that I understand

Red Bucket - Plastic and Glass - is this all plastics?

Blue Bucket - Paper - this is the real question, I've been putting all my paper into it including; envelopes, Cereal boxes, cartons, News Papers, TetraPaks, paper shopping bags if it's made of paper it's gone in. When I was sort of in the Paper industry the wast paper mills actually wanted things like cereal boxes and tetra paks as usually they were made of Kraft and therefore very good quality paper with long fibres which added strength to the Test paper produced. They had processes to remove the non paper element of tetrapaks. This was to the point when we were considering withdrawing from packing products in Tetra Paks we recieved a delegation from the waste paper industry to try and see if there was anything they they could do to make us change our mind!!

Anyway, yesterday I put out 3 of my bins (Grey, Red & Blue) the grey and red were emptied but they left the Blue. As I watched I saw them lift the lid (chuck it on the pavement) and then leave the bucket.

I can only assume that it's becuase I had put the wrong type of paper in it.... or is it that they just forgot to collect it?

Anyway, after my ramble, if anyone knows what paper I should be putting in it'll save me a lot of grief!!

Depends on where you live (I have a green box for paper). Are you covered by Daventry DC?

Also check your local council website, they will have a page hidden away somewhere that gives details of what is collected.

Where I live, there is an imprint on the side of the box listing what can be deposited.

Yes we are covered by Daventry DC, the boxes are so battered it's impossible to read the side of the crates, so far all I've been able to find out is "paper"!! grrrrr

Nope NCC are just useless! We have lost many a box as they just dump it on the street and it blows away once empty.

We just let the council operatives collect General Waste once a month (yep, we recycle that much that we only need a bin empty once a month). Garden waste gets composted in the back garden.

Every weekend I load the wagon up with all the card, paper, plastic, glass. It is washed and sorted at home into boxes for quick and easy dispatch into the recycle centre.

Then I take the car for a good blast and spank a good few litres of fine petrol for the heck of it, just to restore my now offset carbon neutral balance biggrin

They're quite good and quick at replacing boxes though... my red box was so battered that on Friday I requested a replacement which was delivered yesterday!! (and all FOC)
