poorly Alfa - any experts near Wellingborough?

I'm in New Zealand and my sister is in Wellingborough so I'm too far away to help directly. She has a 156 Twin Spark and the cambelt has gone resulting in the car not drivable - I don't know yet how much damage has been done.

Are these cars worth fixing assuming the worst, or sell off and buy another car. They don't have much spare cash to do this so I'm trying to help from the other side of the world!

May be cheaper to get a second hand engine fitted than repair the old one
