Some of you may already be aware of who TPS are, probably those who have felt the worse side of their evil practices.

They manage car parks. Privately owned and, it seems, able to have their own rules and practices to normal decent folk.

Parking in the Lidl, Subway, Pet Store car park, I ventured into town to check my bank after just coming back from holiday before doing my shopping. My £40 penalty was for 'driver was observed leaving site'! WTF?

The numerous signs indicate people must adhere to the conditions above, namely within allocated bay and stay no longer than 120 minutes. I've not seen anything about 'for customers only' and even so, I was a customer.

Currently waiting my 7 days for a response. Watch out for them folks...

All done on a computer with tax disc and number plate details. Cameras in the car park too.

These people make their money from managing car parks, they shouldn't be getting their income from me though.

Really saddens my opinion on the state we live in. What happened to common sense, decency and good will?

Hey ho. Lets see how they reply!

At least the glue didn't mark my window!

Better course of action might be a note to the managers of the stores on the estate informing them of your objections. You never know, there may have been enough disgruntled people that have done the same and it might make a difference?

Rip it up, throw it in the bin and forget it. It's a civil matter and IF they decide to take it to Court which I doubt, you never had a ticket and no idea who was driving the car Judge.

The will take money off anyone who is willing to pay them without a fuss.

I had one of these, I ignored it, and they kept threatening 'court action'.

Well, a year and a half later, and I think they've given up.

Hence the capital 'IF' in my comment above. They're after the easy targets and its not economically viable for them to take it to Court.

As everyone else has said, ignore everything they send to you and don't make any contact with them, the fine cannot be enforced

I had one at the station from whoever runs that carpark (or rather Tracey did when she "abandoned" the car one day) - I ignored it until the threatening letter arrived, then I rang them all indignant "I didn't have a ticket on my car" - "we have a picture of the ticket on your car" - "there was no ticket on my car when I got to it"........end of conversation and end of matter !

Thought I would bump this up again as I'm still not resolved.

After contacting the British Parking Association whom TPS are registered with I had no reply so emailed again. Reply was they do not liase direct with the public, just to parking members!

Leaves me with no idea what is going on or what action was taken.

So far had a £60 demand notice and another gone up to £100 with threats of bailiffs etc.

What should the best action be do you think?

Ignore it, I've had a couple of these and been threatened with the bailiffs, bad credit rating etc. but it's all tosh. Unless it's the Council or Police they can do nothing about it... They rely on intimidation and authentic looking documentation to bully people into paying up.

As I said before, best action is ignore it, make no contact with them what so ever, they can't legally enforce the ticket so they haven't got a leg to stand on.
You'l probably get a couple of letters next from Roxburghe debt collectors, cost will go up to nearer £200, and then from Graham White solicitors threatening court action. Bin the lot

have a read of these if you want to ease your mind

Thanks Matt

It is a shame I got in touch with them contesting in the first place.

All along I have denied anything was done against the stated parking terms. I've not denied it was my vehicle or I was driving. As I have had contact, will that affect my ignoring tactics from now on? What's the chance of this rearing it's ugly head again in a few months/years. I've known companies like this pass/sell on 'debts' to even more ruthless collection companies.

Another query I have, where would they get my address to send letters? Should it be where my driving licence is registered?

DVLA will issue from number plate for a small fee if you have valid reason for needing details.

Just another way to make cash.....

Obviously you have told the clamping firm how you'd already reported your vehicle as "Cloned" to the Police? wink

Seriously, just ignore them as previously stated.
