My Evo is due for an MOT and as it doesn't have a standard exhaust, I would like to take it to the appropriate test venue.

Recommendations please (pm's welcome).

We always have joy with Motorvation (Rothersthorpe Road), but not as local to you as Tyres Northampton, nor as cheap.

I always use this place in Daventry. Last time I was there, the garages owner's race spec VXR8 was up on the ramps being fiddled with, and they will let anything suitably interesting off a few minor points....... apparently. wink

My car has an MOT now and hopefully a well fitted cat.

The guys at Bodymek were good, treated you like a person (and helpful) and not another object on the conveyor belt like the previous garage I had visited.
Thanks to those that mentioned them.

p.s. and they were cheap.

I thought that was your car!

I didn't want to look like a geek by going over to have a look. . .

Thanks for the recommendation.

Some disorganised idiot (that'd be me then) who knew his MOT was due to expire "sometime soon", checked his documents last night and it turns out it's due on Wednesday. My variable finish times at work mean that booking anything during the week is a nightmare, although Monday is my day off.

Cue a frantic phonecall to Northampton Tyres first thing this morning, who were fully booked until Friday. Rang Bodymek and they said "How about 1430 this afternoon?" Sorted.

Upshot? One brand new MOT, with a couple of minor advisories. Nice one.

And, like you said, Bodymek were brilliant. The nice Irish guy who actually did the test (and called me through to the office, as he was having trouble accurately identifying which type of Seven mine is) was very friendly and professional.

See you next year chaps.

Big fan of Tyres Northampton... for tyres.

Hopefully they've changed their MOT tester from when we had the Griff done there a few years back. Watching him depart, getting the arse end out and then coming to a screeching halt, having locked all four wheels was not particularly enjoyable...

I recently took the gf's VW Beetle down to Tyres Northampton to have 4 new shoes.
Very impressed with their service/ lounge facilities / drinks / Xbox / Internet and not a bad price for the tyres either.

She also needs her car MOT'ing before the end of the month and I noticed they did it. So am I right in saying you had an MOT for £30?

Also would she get away with this:

Registration plate - condition, security, legibility and format of letters/numbers

It says J333NY K but should read J333 NYK. Would they pass that off or am I going to need to fork out for some legally spaced letters?!

Maybe if you turn on your womanly charms and flutter your eyelashes, but Bodymek charged me £54 yesterday! eek

Seriously, what am I missing here - some voucher or something?
