The White Hart at Grafton Regis - best steak & chips (amongst all the other superb offerings) for miles. Has quite a vocal African Grey parrot & a friendly landlord with a gorgeous Boxer. Always made to feel welcome. Adviseable to book at weekends
Queen Adelaide, Kingsthorpe village - consistantly the highest quality real ale in the county plus good quality grub with generous portions and very reasonable prices

Red Lion, Broughton - village pub with plenty of life in it, good food at reasonable prices, good quality real ales with landlady's preference to keep at least one of dark mild, stout, porter or bitter, check out the web site

The Sir Charles Napier near Chinor Oxfordshire. About an hours spirited drive away, but what a place. Amazing gardens and food th die for. Not cheap but well worth it.

Snooty Fox... Lowick ('The Snoots'. Most expensive chips in the UK. Decent nosh but gird your flexible friend's loins in readiness for the William
Don Paddy's ... Uppingham town square. Good little bisto bar. Great value/location. One vist only but impressed.
Prince of Wales, Kettering TC.... sthole but great choons/sights/atmosphere
Thrapston Tandoori... on the garage forecourt just over Nine Arches Bridge from Islip. Intimate Ruby? Just the ticket...
Old Red Lion, Welham, Mkt Harboro. 48oz steaks. I didn`t believe it, but it`s true. And cheap.

The horse and trumpet Medbourne, award winning AA rosette food. Expensive, but well worth it for that extra special occasion. - I don't think this is still open but not sure - Correct, closed.

The Wheatsheaf, Dallington - excellent food. Can recommend the garlic potatoes, plus excellent "wild" meat specials (crocodile, impala, zebra etc) The Chef/owner who did this left some time ago
Duston Village Chippy, Duston - Voted best chippy in Northampton. Large portions of perfectly cooked chips. Fish always good, plus they do a good kebab as well.
