Just on the off chance that someone can help me.

I want to get some furniture from Ikea (items not chosen as I don't have a catalogue and limited internet access from home).

Would anyone like to help me go down to the store, pick up some furniture (flat packed I expect) and bring it to my house. As I am not strong enough to carry big things.

If anyone can help, I can pay fuel costs or anything else you feel is sufficient.

Please and thank you,

Nicola

Nicola,
I'm always up for a visit to Ikea smile
You're more than welcome to borrow the Frontera if you like - loads of room in there with the back seats down, or I'm happy to go with you if it's an evening and Chris is home, Mondeo Estate or Frontera, I'm sure we could manage between us. They're open quite late in the evenings I think.

Thanks Penny,

I might be getting a bed frame (as I am currently sleeping on the floor). Do you think that would fit in a car along with other large-ish purchases?

p.s. I think you underestimate my strength, it is zero..lol

Maybe - are you after a frame that's flat packed ? They give the dimensions of the packs on the Ikea website which helps. I can measure my internal dimensions (oo-err), if that helps.

Penny, I can't look at the Ikea website (would be a bit obvious at work, it's not nice and plain like PH). That is part of my problem.

If you need something larger, Nova van hire in Weedon are dirt cheap and have pretty new vans (current or previous reg).

We used them about a year ago and was £55 for the weekend (plus diesel) for a LWB hi-top van (they also have smaller ones too).

Nicky, I have an estate & Ikea is our second home.!!

I've fitted a 2 seater sofa and a 6ft cabinet in the back (at seperate times) eek with the boot down, also have a trailer.

Happy to help if you get stuck.

Paul. smile

I was going to say "or even a two some with penny" but that will be taken the wrong way.!!! - two estate cars - 1 trip - just a thought. biggrin

Can't help out with a van or estate (but can confirm that you CAN get a 6ft flat pack bookcase in a Cerbera!!) however I would give a recommendation for the IKEA delivery service. My parents arranged the delivery in store at about 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and it was delivered the next day, sunday morning at about 7:30am.
Not sure of the delivery prices as i think they depend upon distance, but would probably be cheaper than hiring a van if you cant arrange anything else.

I'm off work at present and at something of a loose end with Volvo estate & roof rack available, so could help out. However, if the bed frame is already made up full size (as opposed to a kit of parts) you are going to need a van. I can also vouch for Nova who I have used myself, since they are just up the road from me.

I can supply some muscle if necessary at this end if you do get a spotty oik to help you load - and I am one of those sad creatures that actually likes putting Ikea furniture together if that's any help ?

Help needed please, although I probably just need the muscle and time rather than the car.

Have to return and replace a heavy item (it only weighs a few kg less than me) to Ikea.

So I would like a strong person to get the thing into my car and out of the car and return, with help from me.

One evening this week would be helpful.
Thanks,
