Estate Agents in Northampton

Please help a fellow pistonheader in need, i am desperately trying to rent a property in Northampton and i'm simply not having any luck from the useless bunch that call themselves estate agents!
i enquire about a house i like and if i get contacted back the house has always "just gone", that's if i get contacted back... the quickest response has been 7 hours so far!
one of the estate agents did phone me last week and said the house i enquired about had gone but they had another one just like it blah blah blah, "great" said i, send me over the details and if i like it i'll phone you to arrange a viewing...
...that was a week ago and she still hasn't!
found another house i like this week and the landlord won't take two single men as tennants, why not?
so my plea to the good people of pistonheads is this, if you are an estate agent or know of an estate agent then please help me find a house so i can move!!!

i've tried all the online websites and have tried contacting the estate agents on properties i'm interested in by phone and email and got a very poor level of response!
today i walked up and down bridge street going to EVERY estate agent there (there is about 10!) and got an alarming variable in the level of help i recieved!!!
one person i had to almost force to take my details, another i didn't even bother leaving anything, yet another said "ok, so we have this which is out of your budget but i reckon we could squeeze it alot closer if you're interested..."
i'm not one of those people who go "i'm looking to buy therefore you should be falling over for my business" but i did expect a *little* more help than i recieved... i'm about to sit down with my housemate and trawl though the info to see if anything fits the bill!
you're also quite brave suggesting someone should live by you, i could be the neighbour from hell!*

it gets worse, put a deposit on a house today to be phoned back 30 mins later to be told the landlady has let it herself and not told the estate agent!
so went back and the same landlady had another house to let which was £50 more a month so asked if she would move to the same price as a gesture after what had just happened and just got a "no" as a response...
i will keep looking!
