Anyone experiencing local Diesel problem
Discussion
Filled up Tesco Monday evening no problems, Tuesday am, after a good frost the night before, the motor is running starved of fuel for anything over moderate tickover.
Had same problem last year after a cold spell even had the AA out to check motor over and they suggested fuel filter changing which made no difference. After changing fuel supplier had not further problems all winter.
The fuel prime pump can be pumped a few times before pressure is restored which suggests to me the fuel tank is restricting the flow.
I am hearing of a few other diesel drivers that are reporting sluggish performance and saw another Nissan Pick Up in Irchester this morning driving slowly with hazzard lights on, hope you arrived ok.
What temperature does problems with diesel kick in or is it just me?

I drive a Navara D40 on a daily basis. About a month ago I moved out to overtake a lorry, on the hill going out of Gedington, and the power cut back to about 50% just as if the turbo stopped working. I stopped switched off and phoned the RAC. After about 5 minutes re-started and all was ok. Phoned the Nissan dealer and the first thing he asked was where I had filled up. Local supermarket pumps the evening before I replied. Should only use branded fuel he said. I have done as he suggested and had no bum clenching moments (in the Navara anyway) since.

Had the same problem too, diesel from Morrisons.
(Never seems to run well on Tesco fuel).
Was very difficult to start and seemed to be misfiring, (whatever that may be called for diesels).
I put it down to extremely cold weather and has been OK since.
Same supermarket brand I used(Never seems to run well on Tesco fuel).

As mentioned above it appears we are still being supplied summer diesel.
Ripped off from another forum.
BS EN 590:2004 (which supersedes BS EN 590:1999) lays down the maximum "cold filter plugging point" (CFPP, the temperature at which the fuel won't pass through a fuel filter) for UK diesel. Pretty much every UK forecourt sells diesel certified to BS EN 590.
- for diesel on sale between 16th March and 15th November, the max CFPP is -5 degrees C
- for diesel on sale between 16th November and 15th March, the max CFPP is -15 degrees C
Hopefully today with the temp in the + range the problem will cure itself, else the tank is going to be drained.
