Any Pistonheaders from Northants going to this on 16th November?

Me and the OH are undecided as yet whether to go by train or by car and wondered if anyone else had looked into train prices??

Also would be nice to know if any fellow Northamptonians are heading up there too.

A few local PHers will be next door (MPH ticket gets you into CMS too) at the Classic Motor Show with this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Train is very good to NEC so I'm told (we always go in car for above) train saves parking cost too, not sure if trains run direct from Northampton

Pop over and see us - listen for exhaust and engine noise and you'll find us

Have just been looking at train times online - it would appear that there are extensive works on the line on that particular weekend and it will mean a crappy bus transfer to Coventry first so we will be driving now.

Thanks for the info regarding CMS, we'll definitely give it a look.

My other half and I are going on the 16th from Milton Keynes on the train.

I'm also likely to be there on the 15th in the TVR assisting SB - Nigel and the team on the sporting bears dream rides if I get my form in in time.

Trust me - check your route before your travel. I get the feeling you will get as far as Northampton by train before you will then be taken to Coventry by bus and then train again to Birmingham International.

You will probably be better off driving.

Looks like you are correct. I'll just drive to my house in Coventry and then get the train in from there. Will save me having to pay the silly amount for parking on the day.

LOL can we park at your house too??? That was the reason we wanted to get the train because it would work out cheaper than paying for petrol and the NEC's ridiculous parking charge!

Totally agree about that parking charge , alternative is to get a car full of people and split the charge as the train fare and parking from Rugby would be even more ! Plan to go on either Fri or sat if anyone else is going ? Tickets at reduced rate if tvr or other club member .

Why not just call me a complete tight wad and be done with it? tongue out

I have tickets for the classic car show and to get into MPH but I wouldn't pay to see the Top Gear bit. Not sure if I'd go even if it was free so your last sentence is completely arse about face. Your memory is obviously failing you as I told you this last week.

The car parking charges are a bit galling especially when they charge different rates for different events.

Hi Tight Wad wavey

You're right I am confused I thought Top Gear Live was all part of the MPH Show, so you're paying extra to get into MPH and then you'd have to pay on top of that even to see Top Gear Live

Wow, there's no way you'd do that TW biglaugh

NEC charges for car parking at the going market rate - if you're paying a premium to go to MPH then you'll pay a premium to park and probably a premium for a program too, just think how much extra they can charge for the Max Power shows with the very free-spending visitors they get for thoses smile

AFAIK, the NEC changes the car parking charges depending upon the events running. Car related events tend to be £7 and lesser events a fiver.

I believe the entrance tickets to the show will also get you into the static bits of MPH but not the live parts. This was the case last year (or was it the year before. - Yes it was as last year we were in Mexico at a five star resort. Damn - already blown my tight wad rep!)

A Classic Motor Show ticket also gets you into MPH (the prestige and performance motor show section, but not into Top Gear Live). There's also a new Classic Bikes section of CMS which is also included.

Top Gear Live is now completely sold out.
