A dark red Saab 95 estate, with descrete flashing blue lights behind the front grille, steamed passed us yesterday whilst we were doing 90+ on the M1 in a Navara - twice!

I think this one is a fire officer.

Ive seen two Grey Volvo S60's around Wellingborough/Northampton both on 56 plates. They are unmarked but you can tell they are police cars because the officers are wearing uniforms and there is smaller wing mirror on the passenger side above the standard one. You cant miss it.

On reflection it was more of a maroon than red

When I'm 'making progress, I always look out for tell-tale signs of police cars - generally as said before the extra passenger-side door mirror above the original, but also police cars are always spotlessly clean and generally only a couple of years old. You can often see mesh grilles in the rear headrests hiding blue lights and 'equipment' scattered around the upper dashboard. They also often use Vauxalls and Fords as unmarked cars (ie don't worry about unmarked spotlessly clean Toyota Corollas - you'll be quite safe there)!!!

I think the fireblade with the camera was a 'weekend warrior' filming himself blatting about so he could be a youtube hero. I've seen loads like that at trackdays, the last one where the the bike was parked up at the back of the pits covered in gravel with the remains of the camera gear torn to shreds!! Clearly trying too hard to impress his mates.Laugh, we sure did........

Now you mention that - the bike I've seen was a black one with the camera mounted in one of the paniers.

Wasn't it Northants police that had a chavved up Vectra out to catch boy racers? That was a bit sneaky. Might have been another force but it definitely happened, I spoke to the chaps that helped build it.

Thats nothing new, Cambridgeshire has 3 unmarked XR3i's in the 1980's doing the same thing.
