Just thought i would put the feelers out to see how would be up for a hoon over to Santa Pod one weekend morning and then be up for some 1/4 mile action. Could be serious fun and to make it more interesting we could all put £10.00 into a prize fund and whoever gets the fastest time of the day can chose what charity to donate it to.
Interested parties put your names down and suggested charity.

Is this before or after the new clutch, drag racing tends to be very wearing on the transmition and drive

I'm happy to attend to help and watch

I'd also be very happy to demonstrate a total burn-out of someone else's transmition/drive too biggrin

Helmets have to be worn which spoils some of the fun frown

If you want a Pit Manager (i.e. someone to arrange a tow to outside so that you can call the AA) I'll do it - or just to make sure you have oil, water, etc. and that your wheel nuts are tight!

Mention it to DaveM too as his brother is thinking of buying another race car (one you'd like) and he might want to test it out

Did I ever tell you about the time at the Pod I saw over 300 mph in 4 secs . . .

My clutch is fine !!
helmets only have to be worn in open cars - crash helmets that is!

So come on then who is up for it - bagsy first race against the midget!

you need arm straps for open top cars too, and helmet if your car can do over 110 at the finish line

Patience my dear boy!

Give people a chance to reply

I couldn’t run to the start line let alone passed it

but

if you meant race my car rather than me personally then I’ll do best of three or five runs against you as the most consistent runner usually wins as you have to finish to win

plus I wouldn’t need arm straps tongue out

If I was you rather than challenging a well sorted and maintained car like mine you'd be better off taking up my offer of a level head nerd before the start line

If not sort out a handicap time and bring it on - the mighty Midget roars

So if I wanted to run my 7 I would need arm straps? I have to wear a lid anyways, so that isn't a bother, but arm straps would stop me running. I could still turn up and watch though.

they are nothing fancy, my mate Rich had them in his caterham. Stops you putting your arms out in the event that you flip the car, keeping you within the roll cage.

I was interested until I read about the arm straps.

I'm guessing the TVR will fall into the 110mph bracket. frown

my 4 litre did exactly 110 @ 1/4 mile when I ran it on a straightliners event in the past. Funnily enough, my S1 Elise 160 was a bit quicker over the 1/4 but went through the timing beam at only 99mph.

Understandable. The Elise does the first few hundred yards quicker and the TVR has to play catch up.

yep, certainly would seem that way. The problem that I suspect any of us will have though is that I expect the officials at SP will expect any car of that sort of ilk will break the 110mph and insist on the arm guards.

Worth giving them a quick call or dropping them an email to clarify the situation?

There is a meeting at the end of August on a Sunday - it is £10 to get in and then £20 for a whole day of racing action. If there is some interest i will buy one pair of arm straps that can be shared they are about £30.Maybe someone could borrow another set or club together - if there was 10 of us that is only £3 each. Sooooo - lets start a list to see if it a goer - and dont forget the £10 for charity mate.
