Depends on the car you are selling

There are a few sites that allow free advertising and some paper magazines

It's a buyer's market has been, and will be, for a long time so be sensible with your valuation and assesment of your car and your advertising and selling price (do your research to establish this)

Advertised price can sometimes be a lot different to selling price

Check out lots of other adverts in many different sites/magazines to see what is important to say for your car and check (advertised) selling prices

The difficult thing is to actually get a serious buyer out to look at your car - if you get one don't let them go unless they buy

Only advertise contacts that you are (reasonably) ALWAYS available on and always reply ASAP (answerphones/voicemail will potentially lose you a sale)

Allow for bargaining items to clinch the sale (R/T, books, models car cover, spares ect.)

Good luck - you'll soon find out why trading-in is so popular

Another thought

You could perhaps sell it to a dealer/garage

or get a dealer/garage to sell it for you on commission

both ways gets the car away from you and saves you being constantly available for some people with - silly questions, silly price offers, canvassers, appointments they're not going to keep ect.

Unless you're very, very, lucky selling a car is not a lot of fun or a good use of your time
