just because someone wants to tear down top of the town and stick some flats up over the road rolleyes

the council refused planning permission, but the buildings inspectorate (based in bristol) over ruled it

Alo here http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/Losing-the-...

It is a shame that greed and not common sense leads the way.

(The venue owners can just sell their plot, where it will be turned into even more flats.)

only been there a few times and tbh i really liked it. tbh more drugs and wasters in town centre at time and envy and NB's. be a shame but things cant always stay as they are.

remember thinking when i first went that it was in a really odd location though tbh.

Think I've only been there once....what's the likelihood the Northampton Mafia will be getting richer?

Sad to hear this but the press release from the owner is simply naive. Afraid planning policy is the issue here, not profit, and that requires high density residential urban redevelopment in suatainable locations like this else govt growth targets can't be met. If the Borough Council refused consent and avoided being penalised in costs terms when having that decision overturned on appeal then it sounds like the C/tax payers of Northampton got off lightly. Of course, there's nothing to stop the owner selling the site for housing and reinvesting the proceeds in a new venue in a different location; or investing in some sound proofing if he wants to stay there, is there? rolleyes

Don't worry people, the Purplehaus group who own Soundhaus also own Roadmender now. The main problem is not the flats but the fact the lease is 20 years and Purplehaus cannot to commit to a lease that long. This has made the lease available for compulsory purchase order and this is what has happened.

The Roadmender will share it's nights with Soundhaus DJ's and the smaller bar area will be made bigger and the alternative DJ sets and bands will continue to visit Northampton.

We need to continue what we are doing as no other venue in Northampton is interested in the bands Purplehaus sign up.

Hope to see some of you there on the Projekts night.

Dan

Utter tosh. Don't judge the people who visit the venue. There is less trouble at Soundhaus than most places in Northampton.

Hi Matt, another thing we have in common! Drag racing and Soundhaus...

Soundhaus will close at the end of the summer and as stated above the whole operation will move to Roadmender so all is not lost.

Online booking is on it's way.

I think once things move to Roadmender and settle down all will be a lot smoother.

Oh for goodness sake grow up. I was only joking and I wasn't talking to you anyway. Anyone that knows me knows that I wouldn't go out late at night at the weekend anyway (even if I was allowed to) so there !
