I'm after the help of the PH collective. I'm really want to take GI Jane to the F1 this year at Silverstone. I can afford the tickets, but it's the ramped hotel prices that are scuppering the plan... frown

They only seem to do weekend only deals or just too expensive. Premier Inn; 2 nights = £450!!!

So does anybody in the area know of any little gems that won't rob me blind? Or a local village anywhere that's potentially drivable from? We're not really fussed about where, just as long as it's warm and dry as well as within a reasonable distance to drive to the track.

Thanks in advance.

Ben, I'd be interested if you/they could help with anything... 50 minutes is still better than near Bristol!

Sadly, it'll be in a 106 bag o nails oil burner... My house is apparently, not a house, but a big money eating monster.

41mins for Huntingdon to Silverstone, is that by plane? ...lol
I would guess 1hr 10, then add a little race traffic.

A not too onerous journey (straight up the M1 for Silvers) would be one of the Dunstable/Luton airport hotels - looks like you can get a room from £55 per night

Dunstable - Silverstone (Google Maps) = 29.6 miles about 45 mins
Luton airport - Silverstone (Google Maps) = 48.0 miles about 57 mins

Hope this helps smile

Yes, there are still rooms available at £125 per room per night! Speak to Sloane Helicopters for the price of a transfer.

I've posted this in another thread. If you can get as close as possible to the circuit for the F1, you stand a better chance of not sitting in traffic for hours! Although it's well organised, the whole place gets turned into a one way system.

http://www.bedandbreakfast-directory.co.uk/uploads...

I've no idea what the place is like, but Stoke Bruene is less than ten minutes drive from the circuit and the village is lovely.

If you get no joy with that, other areas worth searching are:

Silverstone - obviously!
Whittlebury (there is a hotel there, but it's expensive) - 5 minutes
Brackley - 15 minutes
Roade - 15 minutes
Towcester - 10 minutes
Milton Keynes - 25 minutes
Buckingham - 15 minutes

(all times are estimated drive times (in an average car) to the circuit without heavy traffic). Most areas around Silverstone are nice, but if you find somewhere and want to know what sort of area it's in I'm sure there are enough people around here to help.

Good luck!

buckingham and MK are good places to try for hotels, theres a holiday inn in central MK that may be cheap, otherwise bicester maybe worth a try.
