As some of the people that know me will testify, I am a bit thick when it comes to technology. That being the case I thought I would seek INTELIGENT assistance in sourcing a new wireless for by car.

I have decided that I need the new digital thingy, that I want to plug my ipod straight in, and that I want someone else to fit it as I would only cock it up. Whilst we are at it we could really do with a new ariel as the reception on my old wireless is pants.

So what should I buy and where should I go (to get the wireless obviously). For the sake of my testicles (in case the wife finds out) we can put a price limit of £300 on the lot.

All helpful advice gratefully received and faithfully applied.

I have an Alpine ipod head unit in my car. It allows full control of the ipod whilst connected. It was about £300 three years ago but they cost a fraction of that now.

I'd recommend this one as the cheaper Alpines require a separate adaptor (KCE422i), which costs about £40 (mine needed this);

Any reasonably modern car has standard connectors so fiting a radio, at least electrically is childs play. (Even a Halfords employee can do it FFS).

I just fitted an Aldi one for £39.99 to the Ying.

Not bad considering the price and its MP3/WMA compatible. Has a slot for SD cards, Aux input for Ipod and a USB input.

Looks a bit tacky though but fits in well in the Dai smile
